What jack should I get?

I went with the Daytona 12 ton. Works for me and fits in my storage area. This the jack that comes in the JKU. I don't have my OEM to see how that would work.

This should get a good chuckle/response around here...Farm Jack.

Since you want one that is able to ride with you in the Jeep, I'd find any bottle jack that gets you you're wanted height and have at it. I think you'll end up needing a stand/step/block/what have you for your application. I think most bottle jacks are only going to get you about 18"-19" max. Good luck and keep us posted with what you find.

Safe jack with extensions, and a pair of foldable aluminum jack stands from Amazon. Trying to get 37s off an LJ in order to remove the broken pinion with only 1 jack was not fun.

Take that bottle jack and put it in the corner

I started keeping mine in the instatrunk with wood blocks, a breaker bar, extension, and 19mm socket.

If I never get my wish to have a lift, I’ll want to have 4 floor jacks and more jack stands.

My low profile HF floor jack has worked well for over a decade working in my old garage and mostly in the dirt since then.

I bought 10 ton jack stands after having a scare while doing suspension work…when one of my 6-tons kicked out while I was working in the dirt.

I felt the front bumper hit and then slide down my head and back (in fast slow motion as I was figuring out if this was real bad or just seemed scary). Luckily is was basically just a reminder of how bad it could have been. Got the 10 tons and never looked back.

I believe this is the new link for them.

I store them upright, so I am not sure if it would leak or not.

Same that’s a big reason it’s still in the box while it’s in the trunk.

That's why I showed him in the photo how to position the factory jack it so it reaches the axle. Alternatively, if my above jacking method isn't liked, carry a short 4x4 block of wood to set the factory jack on.

He said it doesn’t reach, which means your method doesn’t work for him. The response you received wasn’t the emotional twaddle that you implied it to be. Do you need to go to moderator school…or just honesty school?

Just think, if you quit being a moderator today nothing on our end would change. Go on now and slap your face to that truth.

I typically don’t defend (especially Jerry)but Jerry offered him 2 viable solutions here;

1- use Jack as per his photo, under the CA and OP’s would work there giving him about 3” more height

2- a block of wood, which we all know works.

🤷🏼‍♂️

That’s not the problem here, but I appreciate your efforts to provide a solution. I bring wood to help lift from the CA skids out on the road/trail, and found that lifting in the same area with wood and a floor jack works in the garage.

Then what is the problem? His wife’s Jack won’t lift the Jeep on the tube. I’m f he moves to the CA it will, if he adds blocks of wood it will.

These were Jerry’s solutions. I typically don’t share my opinions or ideas here only concrete answers if I have em.

Either of Jerry’s options actually work,

🤷🏼‍♂️ I’ll go back to my garage

He said it wouldn’t work unless I misunderstood (which is very possible). I agree that adding wood would solve it.

Jerry decided that his method is disliked by others when that was never said by anyone but him. It was a lazy and passive aggressive way of dealing with the situation.

I need a new jack, I used to carrry a AC Delco bottle jack, It's just shy of lifting my Jeep w/o a block of wood so i've always hated it, and now its going out. I'm looking at the Daytona bottle jack at HF. I would need the 12 as it lifts to 18-5/8" and my front axle is 16" to the bottom. I do have a tube support that adds an inch to the jack, but wondering if there is a better option.

It matters a tad when folks read what the OP wants, what he is trying to do, what he has done, and the problems he has with it that clearly indicate what would work better for him.

I read Steve's (LakeBeard) post as wanting a solution that works without using some cribbing and since Steve is not an idiot, I am 100% certain that no one needs to tell him to set his jack on some wood if it doesn't go high enough especially and most especially since he said that in the first sentence. If we are going to recommend cribbing, that means we can also recommend a pallet jack. With enough blocks of wood and some patience, you can lift a rig up with the frame sitting on the ground to being able to get jackstands under it. Not fun, not especially quick, but with enough wood, it works just fine.

You need to lighten up. First warning, next one comes with a suspension. I thought we already spoke about this? It’s OK to have differences, but you can be much more tactful with your responses.

I know you have family life and real life to handle, so you don't need this nonsense. All is good man

Edit: saw your new policy and I think it's excellent
