What did you do to your TJ today?

I was sitting in a parking lot the other day when a huge fire truck pulled in. I noticed that the bumper was covered with black and yellow diagonal stripes and wondered, why don't we do that? It makes more sense than black and with surely give the driver in front of us something to think about. Might even make a pedestrian think twice. I have also seen them with reflective white and red stripes.
Thoughts?

Why not get rear brights to really let them feel your presence

Was still getting 20% leak on leak down test on cylinder 4 after having the head machined. Pulled the piston. Something tells me this is not wear you want to see. It’s on both sides of the piston/ cylinder walls.

Decided to just F it and order a new factory bumper via the dealer. $208 out the door and im done with it for another 20 years. :ROFLMAO: just need to wait for it to arrive.

Between the drive time to pick up a mediocre used one for $50-100 a few hours away, prepping for paint or paying likely too much for powder coating and not being happy with the end result not matching... $200 looks to be a pretty fair deal imo.

Geez I never even thought about an OEM replacement! Great idea. CarParts has copies for $72; but if you got a Mopar for $200 that’s awesome. I might go that route to replace my rusty no-name from the PO.

I got all 4 flares back on today for the first time in over a year. I’m gonna get this thing inspected and drive it this summer if it kills me!!
Now to go do the BMB break-in procedure … without getting busted for an expired inspection 😬. It’s a catch 22; fix the brakes to get the sticker but need the sticker to finish fixing the brakes! 🤫

I just missed out on a oem rear bumper in great shape for $50 😭

Chinese aftermarket OEM clones paint doesnt hold up much past a year from what ive read and car part had nothing nearby of interest to me.

They run about $190 new on the online wholesaler dealer websites plus shipping. wholesale mopar is Lakeland Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Lakeland Florida. ive bought quite a bit through them & have only had one issue on their end which they promptly resolved at their cost.

Both a somewhat local online wholesale dealer and the Florida dealer quoted roughly the same of ~$240 shipped to my door. My local storefront dealer in town wouldn't budge from $279. Had my father swing by his local dealer and order it at his employee discount price of $208, Im figuring that if a big awkward box gets crushed during shipping the dealers gonna have to deal with the issue before I accept it.

I went to pick up my car from the mechanic last week. Today I got a ticket in the mail for driving 53 in a 35 zone ($100). I got a couple tickets for running red lights in the snow, several years ago and never acknowledged getting them. Nothing happened. I heard on CNN that it wasn't legal in Virginia to send tickets to the vehicle owner when there wasn't proof of who was actually driving. I guess I will wait and see.

Maybe the mechanic was speeding on their test drive.

DOT-C2 Reflective Safety Tape Red/White Conspicuity Tape

Buy the expensive stuff cuz it's a bear to get the cheap stuff off when it falls apart. Ask me how I know.

I put on LED taillights and LED High Brake Light and I drive around with my parking lights on. Just me. Much brighter than the stock lights.

There are like 30 different kinds of this tape. Which one did you use?

The wrong one. I read 3M as Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing and the Chinese meant 3 Meters. It needed to be replaced after a year.

I put some on my utility trailer. It isn't staying stuck...

We buy ours at work from either Fleet Pride or TruckPro.

Expensive..... yes
Sticks and stays..... yes
Made in USA..... yes

That's why we pay the price.

Oh cool. Thx for the pic. Mine need to be done. SEM Trim Black? Clear coat?

Went with what I had left over from my frame paint touchups, Krylon rust tough. No particular preference for paint other than this was left over and what I touched up on the frame has held up well for maybe 2 years now & it also blends with the areas I didnt touch up very well. Takes absolutely forever to cure though. The "quick dry" label on the can is bullshit unless they are talking dry to the touch within a half hour... which I guess is correct if they are being technical. I dont clear coat either. semi flat has a good enough sheen already.
