What did you do to your TJ today?

Look mom, no wires...

Alpine iLX-407, iPhone 16, Wireless CarPlay ('Ottocast'), MagSafe charging (Scosche); music on the phone, GPS on head unit, remote control ('Axxess') on the steering wheel.

I'm about 70% towards the same setup - same phone mount spot. Working the stereo piece now.

Are you using a magnetic mount? I've gone with a Ram Mount for stability off-road.

Nice! Alpine always had one of the best GPS maps set up. At least before everything became tied to a phone.

It's a Magsafe mount.... Time will tell how stable, but it feels pretty solid, and I'm liking the pop-on/pop-off operation.

Love my daily mounts on the magsafe (pixelsnap for me) adapters for a pop the phone up on its own. Use it all the time to watch the phone without a stand.

Appreciate your feedback on the mag if it holds up so I can remove a wire on my mount...

I use the bullet point mag mount for my Garmin overlander. Stays attached.

I was looking at the Bullet Point mounts because they're like built to endure. But I've had this low profile mount in the TJ for years... I didn't know the hole pattern was an industry standard?.. So this was the least intensive swap. The Scosche charging head wasn't exactly cheap, but very well designed, and low profile... So I'm hoping rugged terrain won't shake it loose. We'll see.

This has been one of my favorite mods, magcharger between the parking lever and shifter trim with the power run to the fuse box. Wireless CarPlay, phone out of sight, no issue on the trail.

Refrained from setting my buddy's 05 Rubicon on fire Saturday. After over an hour of checks, refreshing the grounds, and scans (what I could get every time before the ECU would "kick me out" and "lose communication". His ECU has to be toast. Not what he wanted to hear, but it is what it is. I have a MaxiSys CV scanner, not some little handheld for the record.

I have some boulders in the alley to keep single cell amoebas from driving over my property. One of them was set too far back. I used my Jeep, the winch, and the recovery gear to drag it about 6 inches and put it in a better spot.

It worked, but it also made me realize that I need to practice using my recovery gear more. Took me a bit to figure out how to align everything and connect everything.

Put some insulation under the hood. I got some thinner stuff, so I ran a border around some edges that had jagged edges from cutting the aluminum with a dull knife. I have a little more to do but today was the only day I took off work early and it's going to be 100 degrees for 3-4 days. Added a decal to "spruce it up" like @John Cooper. 🥳

Yesterday, I got off early and decided I would pull the front driveshaft to see if that's where the clunk kind of noise was coming from in 4wd. I decided to take it for a spin around the driveway first to remind myself what it sounded like. And there was no noise. Unfortunately, now I have no idea what was causing the noise as I'm sure there is still a problem I just can't recreate it.

I guess it's a win for now though?

That sounds like every car I've ever brought back to the dealership for warranty work. Mysteriously it comes back when the warranty is void.
