Same! Especially when I go to reach for a certain size and only then do I find out it was skipped.

I think I'm going to start replacing all of my wrenches and give my current stuff to my nephews who are 15 & 18 and beginning to get into vehicles and dirt bikes and such. Just trying to decide between Icon and Tekton. I need to check and see who has no-skip sets.

It’s been too hot to do outside projects so I’ve been doing small things in the shop. Because of the variety of tow vehicles and trailers I own I have various sized hitch inserts. The big drops were on the floor and the short drops were taking up shelf space. I decided the best way to organize them was to hang them up where they won’t be in the way. I had some salvaged 1.5”x3/4” tubing and some 5/8” rod I salvaged from a foosball table. I did find out that I didn’t have a 5/8” bit so I did have to make a trip to HD. I’m not a metal guy so the welds aren’t pretty but serviceable. I bolted them to the side of a storage rack.

The dirty bastards strike again!

Took them 18hrs shy of a week to pass along that info, after happily accepting my order and telling me my item would ship the same day. I guess Quadratec is the Optics Planet of the Jeep world now (if you're a gun guy, that probably makes sense).

That makes 5 or 6 orders in a row of them selling me something they don't have. Makes me want to drive up to PA and punch them all in the taint.

Anyway, I went to advance and bought the only 2 packs of dorman copper washers in stock and I'll figure out tomorrow if they're going to fit.

Took the brake drum from a 1997 Class A American Eagle RV, added some other scrap metal from RVs and brake jobs...man I love how easy it is to drill holes with my Vevor Mag Drill...and bingo...moves easy enough with my hand truck.

Would you say that mag still is even a partial replacement for a drill press? Is been thinking about a drill press for a while but don't really have the space. I'm not a fabricator so it would only get very occasional use.

I work on enough awkward metal stuff that so far the mag drill has been wonderful. And the annular cutters are amazing.

You didn't ask me directly, but I'll share my experience anyway - I have a drill press and two mag-base drills. My go-to is always the drill press first. With a decent vise, it's the quickest for drilling. However, I'd say that in all the fab I've done for my LJ, I've used the mag-base drills about an equal amount as the press. The reason I use the mag-base drill is when I have to put a hole far from the edge of a piece, where it won't fit in the press. However, setup for that is always time consuming, especially if working with aluminum (because the mag-base won't stick). Having the fab table I have makes that pretty easy.

Besides the setup time, the other issue with the mag-base drill is spindle travel. I use tap handles that allow guidance by a drill chuck:

Neither of my mag-base drills have even close to the amount of spindle travel to be able to do that.

I bought five big Costco wheeled wire shelves to regain some space in the shop. Today, I filled three of them with car parts:

One is spares for the LJ, one is parts to go on the LJ in the current build, and the other is other vehicle parts and supplies. I was able to free up quite a bit of space with just these three. Once I fill the other two, it'll be nice to have some room back!

Funny I did the same thing the other day...only the not rolling ones...really want 14' pallet racking to use all the wall space. But then I'd need a forklift.

After five long years my Jeep finally sleeps indoors!

(Excuse to poor lighting, I was installing more lights that day

Footprint of the new digs is 12’ x 28’, I feel like I’d benefit from pouring a slab in front of the shop door to allow for a bit more elbow room on those bigger projects but being a new homeowner and soon-to-be parent money will be tight

Feels pretty cramped at the moment and it desperately needs workbenches. Also need to haul all my tools/crap from dad’s shop over to mine.

On a side note this mower came with the house and I learned it has a plastic CVT trans in it that doesn’t work

no wonder they let me keep it

Twas a busy day in and around the garage. Added the new shoes ( and socks)

for the Corolla…. Then went and picked up a new to her front bumper for my daughter’s IS200…( it just fit in the C-Rolla!!)

Stopped for a venison bacon and cheese pie

Finished up the day with fitting the rear spoiler to the new boot lid she bought last week.

Once the rain stops it will be time to swap out the boot lids.

A fair point has been made. If approaching it from the venison angle, the bacon is likely not even on the radar. If approached from the bacon angle, the leanness of edible meat products is surely not a concern. But, venison bacon, well, that's a whole new room we're in there...good time to pour myself one and have a think...
