8/6 26. Disregard the fuel gauge and light. We have never been friends since I bought my Scion for my driving job 8 years ago. New multifunction switch hazard button is looking good since smashing the old one off the other morning.

Typically I have $25 for gas. I drove 151 miles for $17 worth of gas in my car. My Jeep can't make it to the gas station for that. I still ONLY enjoy myself driving my Jeep.

I worked for Harley-Davidson's racing department (the VR 1000) for most of the 90s, and as such, spent time in meetings with Willie G himself, as the VR 1000 styling was all Willie G. I don't know why, but he always called me, "Studebaker!" - I add the exclamation point because he'd yell it with glee

He was very proud of that '71 Super Glide because he said it was the first time the Motor Company allowed him to create a "factory custom" by grafting the more svelte Sportster front end onto the rear of a big twin. He never understood why that first-year Super Glide wasn't successful. Subsequent model-year Super Glides didn't have the boattail components, which is why it's tragic that you no longer have the boattail stuff (which I'm sure you realize.)
Although I'm not a "Harley Guy," I'm pretty sure a first year 'Glide with all original components would bring top dollar these days...
Stock rake is about 1.5" higher in the rear. I like mine higher than that.

If you look at the way the seat and rear fender are styled as one piece on the 'Glide and compare it to the VR 1000, you can tell the same person styled them. The VR 1000 took the concept a step further and wrapped the gas tank into the mix (the rider is multi-time GN dirt-track champ Chris Carr, and the young feller leaned over at the front is yours truly):
