And now back to our regularly scheduled program!

I put the Morryde tailgate reinforcement kit on this weekend. I still need to do the snubbers, but the pics are below. Please excuse my huge body lift, the Apex came with it and there are plans to swap it out for a 1" and add a 2" (ish) suspension lift). Not a bad kit to put on. I (per usual) had to use some heat to get some of the hinge bolts out but they came out easily enough with the blue wrench. The hinges pushed my tailgate far enough to the drivers side that I needed to remove a shim from the striker latch. As has also been discussed, you need to adjust the tailgate up over level so when you load it with the tire it comes back down. This seems obvious to me but i figured i'd mention it again.

I really like the kit. I like that I don't need a swing out bumper and I like the fact that it only adds something like 50 lbs to the back of the jeep.

Edited to add: I also did not use the offset brackets included with the kit. My wheel is on 15x10 rim and the tires are 33x12.5.x15. I forget what the backspacing is. Whatever it is, it's perfect. Without the offset brackets the wheel is sucked up close enough to the tailgate that i have no need to modify the oem carrier or fab a new one. Once I get the snubbers sorted out, I think this thing will be awesome.

Damn pricey, but I'm happy with it so far.

I also installed the Morryde recently. I did end up having to adjust it upward with the door open to get it where it needed to be when the tire was on it, but now that its set, it closes like a bank vault again.

Working on getting some Icon wheels in to fit the free spin hubs, Have 4 hopefully coming from Icon, and needed to get a 5th from someone else that had one in stock, and found a shop on ebay that had a single in their warehouse. For about $175 shipped, it was worth the risk to get this one while I wait to see if the order of four from Icon get filled.

Test fitting the free spin hub, I also plan to carry a spare hub with the spare tire too.

Yeah, takes a bit of fiddling with, but mine closes the same way, nice and easy. Have fun with the snubbers, they were my least favorite part!

Well, 3 days ago, I got to have a day off (1) after 2 1/2 weeks and spent 8 hours of it with my lovely wife out on the backroads of Wild and Wonderful WV with the top down.

I'm suspecting a bad brake hose or caliper on the left front. It occasionally sticks with hard braking and drags a little afterward, but bleeds off and is normal again after a few minutes of setting. I'll check into it next time I'm home.

finally found my no start issue. Of course I didnt find it until after I bought a new starter last week and a new battery from walmart yesterday. These battery cables from custom battery cables are about 6 years old. Power one wasn't even crimped. Got them crimped on and starts right up. Hoping to make it more than a week without a no start issue this time.

...re-did the battery terminals in anticipation of future expansion.
I'd be very cautious with terminal clamps like that. The internal structure of a battery is not very robust. Cantilevering that much load on a terminal is a recipe for premature battery failure, especially in an offroad vehicle subject to high dynamic vertical loads. If you are going to use them, I'd suggest placing some medium-stiffness foam rubber between the top of the battery and the bottom of the clamp to take some of the load off the terminal and transfer it to the top of the battery.
