A Story of Indecision and Frivolous Spending

Haha, I did! But I had some money saved up when I bought this one, specifically set aside for mods, which definitely helped speed things along.

I was talking with @Starrs about this the other day, and the only way I would ever sell mine is if I found a TJ Rubicon that was either Inca Gold (very rare) or Sienna. However, I wouldn't do it without being able to swap my parts over.

The more I think about it though, I think at this point in my build, I could probably repaint mine for about the same cost / hassle it would be to swap my parts over to another Rubicon.

2003 was the only year the Inca gold was offered.

Jeep TJ, Check.
Portal front and rear, Check.

They were really popular around the early 2000’s for some reason.

Okay, just placed an order for the 17” Vanco big brake kit from Blaine. I figured with 35s now, I need the extra stopping power.

In addition, I had the 16” Vanco kit on my old black TJ, and it made a huge difference. The 17” kit comes with not only bigger brakes, but a new master cylinder as well. That should equate to even better braking!

I’m going to install it at the same time as the Currie steering and the RCV axles.

Then it’s onto the rear axles and the 5.38 gears!

Curious why you chose 5.38 gears with a 35” tire. I had 5.13’s with 37’s and the rpm’s we’re near 3k at 70 if I remember right. Not questioning you, just curious.

What transmissions are we comparing?
