What did you do to your TJ today?

My son and I adjusted rear brakes on both TJs. What a difference!

We tried to fix the after market metal console as well. It unlocks, but the lid will not open all the way. Something is catching. We drilled a hole into the side so that we could see better, but we gave up to make nachos and watch TX vs UTSA.

Drove backroads to put some miles on the new gears. About an hour and a half away from home the Jeep overheated. My sketchy electric fan wiring was the problem. First vehicle to stop was an electrician in a JK. He helped problem solve and got me wired up well enough to get home. Was a beautiful drive with fall colours and Led Zepplin on the stereo.

I definitely have never changed an XJ water pump in an O’Reilly parking lot in backwoods Oklahoma, being careful to buy everything we would need in the 5 minutes we had left before they closed for the night.

I love that some parts stores and places like Discount Tire still help people out. I think a big part of it is just telling people that it's gonna be okay. Everybody wins. The people in the store learn how to wrench and that it feels good to help others. The customer learns that problems can be fixed. And the owner sometimes sells a part and may earn a return customer.

Garage floor allignment after replacing tie rod ends.
Sat Toe in to 3mm using allignment tools.
Adjusted steering wheel.

Now for a drive, re check allignment/toe and hopefully call it a day

EDIT: came back, felt nice but felt like the allignment tool from aliexpress was a bit flimsy and might have moved/bent in when i was measuring , so i brought out two long levers, strapped them to the wheels, leveled them, checked height and got my measure tape out. Toe in is right around 4,5mm’s(0,18inches?) according to this way of measuring.

So between the two im at toe in and im callin it good for now.

It holds up my speedo healer to the side of the PDC and fastens the Bedtred to the tunnel since it was bunched up and interfering with the LS2's throttle pedal.

Note: I more recently purchased an all black foam version for aesthetics, but I can't say with certainty that it's the 220*f "cf" variant and not a lower strength version that looks exactly the same on the computer screen. It's claimed as an "a" variant but that doesn't exist. No problems with it so far, but I don't want to set anyone up for failure and cause folks to question the proven stuff.

Installed my BMB 1.25 BL. Didn't realize that the hardest part would be getting the fan shroud reconnected - which it still isn't.

I took the half doors off and put the full doors on.

It's rained here almost every day for 2 months. 7 inches total this month, 32 for the year. It doesn't rain much some days, a lot others. Highs next week in the 60s.

On it's way again today. It already sprinkled earlier. Two weeks ago we were in a flood watch. The climate people say we are in a drought. I've never been in a drought and flood watch at the same time, with a muddy back yard. I question if they know what a drought is at this point.

I've given up on the top down.

Drought just means less rain than historically recorded. So if it used to rain 70 inches per year, and now rains 60 inches per year, it’s a drought due to the -10 inches from normal. Gotta make up that 10 inches of rainfall to get out of the drought classification.

Not sure what they are using for their avg. We're likely above it. Should hit 35-40 inches based on the forecast the next couple weeks. I used 1/3 of the water over the summer compared to last year.

I forgot that used a decent amount under my 4-channel amp in February. It’s sitting on the LJ’s screaming hot tunnel from the LS’s exhaust going over the transmission. No issues so far.

Chipping away in the new to me 2004 TJ. Took the 9th degree armor off the transmission area (easier then it looked) and changed filter and fluid. Old fluid looked pristine. Boy that’s a finicky transmission to get full. IDK about using 4 quarts for filter change one sees on the interweb. Mine eventually took 6.5 quarts.

Wondered about the larger tires / transmission shift points so down loaded a speed odometer app and checked the speedo. Actual of 62 when showing 60. Okay I think.

Replaced rear brake pads which were about 1/2 worn. Need to call Black Magic for front brake pad help. Not sure pad differences between kits and which kit is on this Jeep.

Used the forum search function to find I wasn’t the only one with E range tires and what a good air pressure might be. Went from as found 40 psi down to 30 psi. Lots better.

Installed covers on the 2 KC lights mounted up high so I can get it inspected. Hopefully the 2 lights mounted on the bumper are okay as is.

Chipping away at the basics albeit slowly. Other then the rear axle whine, seems good so far.
