So this past Sunday I made an hour long hwy trip in the jeep....got it back home and parked it, at that point everything was fine...got in it to go to work that night and made it 5 miles down the road and the trans quit pulling all together, no reverse or drive. Got out checked the fluid and the level was good but noticed it wasn’t the color it should be. Well I cut it off and called my buddy to come pull me home. When he got there I was going to show him what it was doing and by God it started moving!!! I made it 100yards and it done it again. The next morning when I got home I pulled the trans pan off and changed the filter and what fluid drained out, it was very dark and had a lot of sludge on the bottom of the pan. I cleaned everything up and changed the filter that was clogged up and when I got it back together and fluid in it everything seemed normal! Well 20 min later I drive it into town and wouldn’t you know something else went wrong. I went to stop and it was vibrating like crazy and killed it self, well I realized then that my torque converter was locked up... I drove it like that for 2 days and then all of a sudden everything is back to normal..so I thought...I’m driving it to go mow a couple yards today and on my way there it starts shaking every time I start from a dead stop untill I get to around 25-30 mph then it drives normal on the hwy and then wouldn’t you know it when I leave to head home it does the same thing it did Sunday night, but this time I can literally turn it of and start it right back and it will move 200 yards at a time. So I parked it and loaded it on the car hauler where it is currently sitting...I’m brand new to this forum lol so can someone please shed some light on what this could be or has anyone experienced this before?!?!? Thanks!!!

Sounds to me like your torque converter is on the way out. Typical symptoms include vibrations and locked up when it;s not supposed to. Recommend trans shop for diagnosis. Trouble is when they go, they can send all kinds of metal through the system so you may be looking at a unit assembly.

My torque convertor went out in June. I let a chain tranny repair shop do the work, Eagle Transmission.
Stay away from the franchised repair shop and find a 4x4 shop to do the repair. Franchised repair shop's have quotas to meet and that's their motivation to push work thru the system.
Ask some local jeepers where they take their auto trannys for service.
Maybe find a Jeep club in your area that can steer you towards a good shop

Thanks guys! That’s kinda what I was leaning toward, what about the other? Would the torque converter going out cause the pulling for the first 100 yards then acting like it’s in neutral?? Then I can cut the Jeep off and start it back and it’s fine for another 100 yards or so.

Whatever shop can diagnose the torque converter situation will also figure out your other transmission issues. Until they do, it's just guessing.
