Bumper Ideas: Let's See Them!

This will be @Squatch's TJ when he's done with it:

And for those of you who don't know who that is, it's "Extremo the Clown". About as famous here in Portland as the "unipiper".

Hey! Doesn't Quadratec sell that kit? :D

I'm hoping it was my reference to my TJ being potentially "unique" that prompted that post! LOL

Just my opinion, but I would agree with Chris on this. Might be a bit much, but it's tough to picture. I tried google searching tan jeep bumpers and this is all I could find. Color scheme isn't too bad IMO, but there's really only two colors involved. Mind you, I like the color scheme, not the JKU itself. But if you did decide on the tan bumpers, it would definitely be unique, and "your own".

Hitting the "Like" button was in appreciation of your response, and not of that JKU (just so we're clear on that!) ;) The fender flares being tan would be going too far. The rock sliders...maybe. But it gives me a general idea of the Moss Green and Tan color combo. A lot of contrast. Man, it could be a real hit-or-miss situation...

So, I haven't received my Dirtworx bumpers yet (that's not a gripe, just a statement), but I have been giving some thought to what I want to do with them as far as finish once they arrive. As I've stated previously, I love the job that @glwood did on his, and that would be one obvious option, but what about this? What if I were to have the front and rear bumpers done in the same light tan color that the wheels were powder coated in? The hardtop will be painted the same color.
Too much? Too weird? My TJ is a Sahara with the Moss Green paint. I 'm sort of stuck on whether or not it would look "good" in a unique way (clearly different from the norm), or if would initiate a gag reflex in the general Jeep population. An additional thing to consider is that I'm installing some OEM Mopar rock sliders. To have them powder coated the same may be too much tan on the rig, but to leave them black while the bumpers are tan would look imbalanced. Looking for opinions. Might consider more of a graphite color as an option. What say you? I don't consider this a derailment, btw. It's a bumper "idea"... ;)

This is not exact, but the color is very close to what you're thinking. Just happened to run across these pictures earlier while perusing facebook marketplace.

Just a reminder that although I could have had mine powder coated, and they would have looked great, the ability to touch them up if dinged (as recommended by several members) was a major factor in my choosing to go the paint route vs. powder coat. Not to say it couldn't be done, but it would seem the tan color would be considerably harder to touch up...

That would've been my assumption.;) Yeah, only posted that pic for the visual of some of the tan components...there's a LOT of too far on that thing!

Doesn't look bad. Also, @Squatch, you might be able to find a color similar to what you want to paint them vs. powder coat.
I'll be taking the sample plate I have from the powder coating place into the paint supply place I use. They do a computerized color-match. It's how I'll match the hardtop. Part of the reason I was considering powder coating them is because it's fast, and done.

I think the moss green would look good with black bumpers and rockrails, but the wheels tan like in your picture. If the hardtop was tan too, that would tie the wheels in well with it.

A lot of folks are good with editing photos. Maybe someone can edit one of your pics to change the colors so you could get an idea of the different looks.

My TJ is something of an unassembled collection of parts at this point in time, otherwise, the photo editing would be a grand idea. Thanks, Chief!

I made this one a few years ago for my ZJ. I fit up a swing out tire carrier, but never finished welding it up. I hurried too much at the end and I don't like the hitch but oh well.

That looks like it was a lot of work! Any pics of the finished product? Would really like to see the end result. Kudos to you for tackling that project!
