What did you do to your TJ today?

New 39 tooth speedo gear
Wild Boar grab handles
Scosche phone mount

And a new TPS... again... starting to think I need to buy from a better manufacturer or something is breaking them. This is the second time in 6 months.

Deep into this project. Replaced the heater core, all the AC systems, condenser, compressor, accumulator, etc. And a new radiator. Figured I'd upgrade it since I had to get the condenser out. Almost done now.

Update: The evaporator coil I bought, Four Seasons #554188 did not fit the high and low pressure lines. I tried for about an hour and had a mechanic with years of experience try as well, and still could not get them to click in. So, if I were you, I would avoid buying that particular product. I purchased it from RockAuto.com also. Good thing I checked it before putting the dash all back together. I've also decided to order new lines as well since I'm having to get a new coil. More than I initially cared to spend, but A/C is something not to go lightly with in Texas!

If no one's ahead of us, we also get head of the line privileges at drive up windows too.
It just occurred to me .. you guys are always 10 inches ahead or 10 in behind.

When my kid ask me... hey Dad what is that thing...it's .. it's so long..?

Well son, jeep was experimenting with a short bus...🤣😘

I seriously like LJ 's, just messing with the gang.

I saw Gorilla Biscuit has Big Red on this thread, y'all move over. His beard alone has its own thread on many forums, with numerous likes.

Drove through part of the Dirt Devil in Mid-TN. I done goofed up the transfer case linkage and had a hell of a time just trying to get it out of neutral. I guess it’s a common problem? I ordered a shifter cable. Kinda glad I found out about this in a place I could drive 2WD in.

But once I got it back into 2WD I just took a breather and continued on and enjoyed the rest of the drive.

Also if anyone in here is from Tennessee or from a surrounding area is thinking about doing the Dirt Devil and buying the map for $25... you can have mine for free if you’d like.

What is the "dirt devil " man?

There are really only 3 places to offroad in the entire state here in Tennessee. Two of which are park you have to pay to get in. The other is “The Dirt Devil”. https://easyoffroading.com/index.php/2019/04/11/tennessee-dirt-devil-a-sunday-drive-at-its-best/

There are a couple creek crossings but it’s mainly just dirt roads or unmaintained roads. From what I’ve read online on other forums, the locals have had problems with Jeeps/other off-roaders tearing up private property along the public roads, so a motorcyclist made a paper map with the layout and he charges $20 a pop for them. https://tndirtdevil.com/

Honestly I would not recommend buying the map. It’s hard to read. North isn’t marked, there is no “key” to the symbols all over it, it’s missing big roads all over the place, and the some of the roads that it does show aren’t even named.

Hi,
Which 3 places you making reference to? Can you named?

Drove mine from Jacksonville FL back to Atlanta yesterday. Halfway here and the throw out bearing is grinding again.

Just got put in the last week of June.

Would it be too much to ask for a quiet transmission for a while?

I needed to put the soft top down to get the front knob screws out of the upper door frames to test fit my copy/version of the Arizona Rocky Road CB mount. Using the Rugged Ridge mount for mic cable control. Still in early mock up.

First time since I bought it, I put the top down and took the doors off.

I am getting more comfortable working on my new LJ. This week:
  • Replaced a sticky thermostat (I actually did the whole process twice because it leaked like a geyser after the first time, haha).
  • Flushed and refilled the coolant system with Zerex G-05.
  • Installed a 29-tooth speedometer gear to match the 35" tires and 3.73 gear ratio (which I figured out through the jack-up-and-count-rotations method..
I've learned a lot already by reading this forum. Thank you all!

I posted in the TJ thread before I saw this one. I have an 05 LJ in silver. Here's what I did this week:

I also did this:

35’s and 3.73? Have you considered changing the gears at all?

Yes, that is on the list of things to consider. This is the way it came to me, and I'm still evaluating what equipment is on it and what needs to be fixed in what order. I'll probably start a build thread for advice. :)

The 3.73 seems peppy enough for daily driving, but I have noticed some difficulty in maintaining speed up a steep hill. Is that related to gear ratio, do you think?
