What did you do to your TJ today?

Got my dash tray and put it in. Now to find stuff to put in it. LOL

It comes with 3M tape that you just peel the coating off and stick it to the dash, but because I want to be able to remove the defroster panel, I used the stuff below. Not sure how it will do with the heat, but if it doesn't work I will probably do the heavy duty velcro. :D

Just take a little bit and hit with a hairdryer and see if it melts. Could save you a big mess come summer.

Are LJ flares wider than standard TJs? I know the regular Rubicon/Sahara flares were like .75-1” wider than the Sports or SE. But what about the LJ regular non. Rubi models did they come with wider flares as well?

Quite a bit today, actually. Re-installed my now-with-CB-speaker center console, installed the heat soak TSB on #3 injector, installed LED bulbs in the foot well lites, and most importantly, installed my 300 watt voltage inverter and its associated high current wiring. Also installed the high current wiring for a future air compressor - will install the control circuits for both tomorrow. Even cleaned my intake air temperature sensor (thermistor) which had a bunch of crud on it.

I put some rubber between the inverter and the HVAC duct to give the assy some conformity.

Installed nurserts in the under side if the tub in preparation for installing my Rubicon Rocker Guards. Word of advice do not buy the Smitty Bilt nursery tool. I was hard pressed to get it to work while laying in my back under the Jeep.

Switched out the PO’s quick disconnects (I think they’re Tuff Country) for a set of Rubicon Express quick disconnects from @Mike_H. These are the right length, and I like the style better.

@jesseshoots sold me some control arms. Now installed.

if a person has never done this before, it’s sort of trying. It took all my strength to shift the rear axle so the bolts would go through. If I ever go fully adjustable, I’m not sure what I’m going to do. These were about 1/4” shorter than what I had.

Glad they worked out for ya! The concern about double adjustable arms isn't warranted though since they're the easiest things to install. Just bolt up one end, adjust out/in until they meet the other mounting point, then move on to the next one. Once they're all in you can easily adjust them one by one to get everything lined back up.

I guess I meant single adjustable. Double adjustable is a little more than I think I need.

I’ll need to do a ton more research before venturing into adjustable so I can determine what the amount needs to be. The videos I’ve seen haven’t been very helpful in determining what is the correct length.

Moved a bit more on the fenders. The amount of rust is ridiculous. Sprayed rust converter everywhere and letting it cure. Will have to find some fenders to butcher in the future for sure but the tube fenders are going in today or tomorrow.
Got my transmission fluid change done. Redline MT-90.

I feel your pain. My Jeep is also a Northeast/Rust Belt Jeep. I’ve been putting off applying POR15 to the whole underside of the tub and to the frame (mostly out of laziness). I did the interior this past summer, but it looks like I’m going to have to do everything else in the near future 😩 probably gonna have to find someone to weld in a patch around the skid plate area of the frames on both sides too. Rust is the worst.

Wait, no, Carole Baskin is the worst (allegedly), but rust is a close second 😂

Speaking of rust, the Currie track bar install was a no-go today. The Jeep frame bracket has a lot of (hopefully) surface rust, and the dropped Track bar bracket might need to be cut off, so we rescheduled for Monday so that my suspension guy can have the full day if necessary. Fingers crossed for a smooth-ish install! 🤞

Wired up the control circuit side of the compressor and inverter project. Was able to do an end to end test of the latter - just need to cut a hole for the AC receptacle and re-assy the dash tomorrow. The only annoyance was figuring out the leads on the "goldcoast" switches. Red is the "guzzinta" as you'd expect, but white as the "cumzatta" wasn't intuitive - that or the black either one could have been ground. Black is ground though, which is intuitive enough but it would have been easier to figure out if the "cumzatta" had been orange or something - white screams "NEUTRAL!" to me. All figured out in the end.

Replaced the passenger side seat belt receiver with one I purchased on Ebay. The casing had slid down, so the seat belt had a tenancy to not go into the receiver properly. Pulling the casing back up gave only a temporary fix.

I'm going to take it apart this weekend so I can understand what caused it to start doing this. More to come on that.

Mine has dine the same thing.
I'll be interested in what you find, and maybe I can fix mine. If not, I'll need to replace it.

Not a today thing, but a follow up from a 2 weeks ago job.

My 4.0 dripped 3 or 4 drops of oil each evening. Replaced the valve cover gasket, not the RMS. Not one drop in 2 weeks. I do still have some burning oil smell, but I think it's becoming less and less. Maybe all the old oil will burn off some day :)
