What did you do to your TJ today?

Turned 200,000 yesterday.

Driving down the road Saturday the wife says do you smell something burning. Before I could even answer in my rearview mirror I see what I can only describe as james Bond smoke screen. Pulled over and oil everywhere with a trail leading up to the jeep. Turns out the oil pressure sender blew apart. Thankfully napa was a 1/2 mile and changed the very hot sensor with a pair of vice grips. Ironic part is the sensor has been in my Amazon cart for 2 weeks. Would have sucked to put a $2000 motor in a $1800 jeep because of a $14 part. So today I had the pleasure of pressure washing everything under the jeep a few times.

Looks good. Make sure you scuff it and top coat it. POR15 doesn’t have any UV protection. I painted my frame a few years ago, and the parts in the wheel wells that got exposed to regular sunlight haven’t held up. The parts that weren’t exposed are still doing well.

When you say it hasnt held up what exactly happens to it? Does it fade or chip?

Took it for a drive yesterday with the family. The plan was a short drive to get some ice cream but we ended up back home 3 hours later after stopping to look at some new custom houses for sale in the more expensive neighborhoods. I liked the $2,000,000 lake house the best.

House prices here aren't East or West coast type prices, so $400,000-650,000 will get you 4,500-6,000 square feet 5 bedroom, 4-5 baths. $2,000,000 will get you a 1,200 square foot master bedroom and a matching 1,200 square foot guest bedroom, an indoor basketball court, workout room, movie theater, 4 car attached and 4 car detached garages, full bar on each floor, wine room, gun room, and enough bedrooms and bathrooms you might run into a section of the home you've never been to after a decade of living there. The pool house might have been bigger than my house.

All the gloss has gone from the paint, and it’s flaking off in areas. Admittedly, I didn’t do the greatest of prep work on all of it, but there is a substantial difference between the areas that have not seen sunlight to the areas that have. I’m planning on replacing most of the suspension components later this summer, so I am going to redo most of the frame paint as well. This time I will top coat it all after I paint it with POR15.

I cannot believe how much really going over and working on your Jeep makes you realize things you never noticed when you bought it or that were done to it by "professional" shops you took it to previously. Too bad it's stuff like missing hardware and wires that don't go to anything and not $2,000 the PO left in hidden under the floor liner.

Ordered some clay bar on lightning deal (deal has ended) for the full exterior detail I need to do while the flares and bumpers are removed. Ordered a 19 piece dash panel and clip removal kit in a case at 15% off. Going to use it on the clips holding the wheel well liners in and for the removal of the dash when I eventually install a new head unit.

Ya got lucky. My father had a hydraulic line pop in a Chevy truck once upon a time and it resulted in an underhood fire - fortunately minor. His truck was equipped with the famous "Hydro-Vac" brake booster and one of the hoses blew.

Nothing awesome, just put in rear diff oil that yesterday's heat exhaustion had stopped me from doing. Almost happened again today! Weather was nice and overcast, "Now is the time", and sure enough - as soon as I open the garage door, the damn glaring sun is out full force!

Took it for a short drive afterwards!
