Looking for suggestions since the wallet screamed when I drooled over the BMB kits
97 4.0 5sp 4" 35s hp30 Dana 44 rear
Thanks

The BM brakes and Centric premium rotors work great and won't break the bank. My BM hat even works like new after 5 years.

Cheapest rears you can tolerate on Rockauto will do fine, they don't contribute much to how your Jeep stops. For the fronts go with ceramic pads. I used Bendix rotors when I did mine but I'm sure the Centric are great too. I don't run 35s.

If you have the money with 35s I'd really look into the Black Magic pads at a minimum or at least call Blaine/Black Magic and ask advice. He's honest with what you'll get for the money and what you wont.

My first recommendation is always Black Magic Brakes. If you don't brake aggressively (at least on a regular basis), mrblaine's pads probably aren't the best solution for you.

Can someone explain this to me? I do not brake aggressively. I dont race the idiots to the red light where I know we will be sitting next to each other. I do have new 35's and feel the need for better brakes but why are they not a good solution if you dont brake aggressively?

Buy the Black Magic front pads and the Centric rotors if you need rotors. As noted above, the rear pads won't matter that much.

As for needing to brake aggressively - After the initial break-in if you tend to brake with a light foot then over time the pads/rotors will develop a glaze. The net result is that the pads will work just like any other brake pad and you will have lost the benefit of the extra you paid for better pads, that's all. Its not the end of the world. The remedy is to always brake with enthusiasm, not necessarily aggressively, then the pads will always work as they should. However, if that just isn't your style then take a few minutes to do the break-in procedure all over again if/when you feel you are losing brake performance. Its really not a big deal.

That's not at all what I'm referring to. Instead of coasting to stops use more late and heavier braking. Instead of coasting on an off ramp of the freeway/Interstate use more late and heavier braking.

I do have new 35's

As do I. I have the Vanco/BMB big brake kit. If you don't want to spend that much, at least get the Black Magic Brakes pads.

If you have stock brakes and 35s, then you do brake aggressively. (y)

I was planning to get BM brakes, actually planning to get them at the same time as new tires and wheels. I just got tired of listening to the 12 year old KMs and did not have time to install brakes at the same time.

I don't ever brake aggressively, usually down shifting, sometimes all the way back into first. One of the few lessons my dead beat dad taught me
