What did you do to your TJ today?

i was trying to wait until I had collected all the parts for my tummy tuck/sye project but the rattle and squealing changed my mind. Its all coming out in a couple of months (hopefully).
Wise move. Better to spend the small amount of money (and invest the time) now to keep from doing some major damage to your T-case.

Made a long-overdue visit to an old friend in Truckee. Forgot just how much I actually need to just be living here...

My parents have a home near prosser reservoir. It's a fun area to explore. Henness Pass Rd near Stampede is a fun way to get to verdi nv. We use to do it in my pickup truck and go to Cabelas. I haven't done it in 5 or so years but at the time I would have rated it 2/10 in difficulty.

Battery tray repainted / installed with tie downs, so no chance of the battery hitting the side and shorting out on me. I feel a lot better about driving it now, and I'm definitely glad I did that before taking it off road!

and not to the jeep, but for it: my 1/2 in impact drill showed up yesterday, my first power tool that I've bought ever. Should make getting some of these stuck rusty bolts off pretty easy. Part of me wants to go through and take off and re-tighten all the bolts even though I'm not changing stuff yet lol. (Maybe I just want to use the tool though). I also ordered some kroil for penetrating oil that'll show up next week.. This suspension will be cleaned up and overhauled!

I`ll do the same in 2 weeks, it`ll be my vacation project now that COVID has me at home :)

Home with or without Covid? I had that crap and was nearly dead for 3 full weeks. My brother got it too from someone on a construction site and barely had mild cold symptoms. He still tested positive after 30 days though. Just another useless product of China that ruins economies everywhere .I just cancelled my QVC bat soup order too.

Oh, I`m sorry that you got it. I`m glad that you recovered. I think I did not explained myself well... Because of COVID, I will not go out on vacation. And since I`m staying home, I`ll spend some Quality time with my Jeep...

Actually did something to my Jeep today. The PO went nuts with the greaseable joints and my sway bar disconnects were disgusting. I had to use a napkin or gloves every time I wanted to disconnect them. So I spent a half hour with some Purple Power and a wire brush to get them clean enough to grab by hand.

They were also sitting uneven and the bar was close 18*. Brought them back down to even length and now each side sits at 12*

Please elaborate on this...
If you set the angle too high, they links will bind with the sway bar and limit up travel. If your Jeep is lifted and you set the bar too low (parallel or lower), with a little droop the bar can flip around towards the front and bind. JKS recommends 10* but anything between 10*-15* works.

So you are measuring the angle of the sway bar links or the sway bar itself?

Did the front hub bearing assemblies, went easy peasy. Checked the brakes while I was in there and figure I got a few thousand miles before they need done. Big brake kit is down the road a ways still. Rotated the tires and evened out the air pressure, should be good to go for the road trip this weekend.

More like “What did somebody else do to your TJ....” well, unfortunately the answer today is they rammed into it. Going straight, someone else making a left turn jumped the gun and made me very unhappy by driving straight to me. I had trail doors and no windows so it was in 3D. It sounded terrible but when I got out of the Jeep, the body itself was nearly untouched. Just some minor dents and scratches. The tire was obviously flat. Then I saw the transmission fluid leaking and my control arm out of place and then found a spring in the intersection 🤦🏻‍♂️ My mechanic is nearby and he came right away and checked it out. He said he can’t tell much now other than the axle is shifted to the right. It’s at his shop and he’s checking it out tomorrow. My insurance doesn’t know yet if it’ll be a total loss or not till the appraisal. Basically anything is possible now. My LJ is in intensive care and I don’t know what the future will hold. Optimistic that everything works out that way for a reason. Hoping it’s so this baby can get back out even stronger than before. 🙏🙏🙏

PS. The Nissan Sentra I got as a rental feels so depressing. I’m unmotivated to drive anywhere with it lol

That sucks - but I'll mention that it *is* possible to fight the insurance company if they want to total your car - and win! State Farm is particularly bad apparently, but they finally saw things my way and fixed my car that someone T-boned back in 2011.
