What did you do to your TJ today?

Finished up the battery tray repaint/refurb after waiting a week for parts:

As an aside, the Jensen "Heavy Duty" radio/stereo kept PERFECT time, despite being completely disconnected from power for a week. It actually doesn't have a connection for constant +12, only switched. A supercap inside is good for 30 days!
What battery hold down is that?

My LJ came with some basic BFGs that I'm not too fond of. I had them on my old Jimmy and they were all right. I'm not a fan of these wheels either, so I've been watching for some deals. I just picked up these JK AEV Pintler wheels with Toyo Open Country M/Ts that are almost new. I have to wait for my adapters to get here before I can mount them, but I think they'll look great. I need to get some of the yellow caps for them to go with the Solar Yellow. The tires are only a 34" equivalent, but most 35s are only 34.5" anyway, so I'm not losing too much. They're also load range E, so I hope they don't ride too rough. These suckers are heavy. I got all 5 inside my wife's Ford Flex for the drive home!

Drove an hour and a half to pick up a hard top at a junkyard in Christiansburg, Virginia. I had the soft top off so I could bring the hard top back, and it was a fantastic drive down I-81. 75 degrees in October!

I wanted a tan or spice colored top, but I couldn't pass this one up for $750. It's in great shape and the wiring all works for the wiper/washer and defrost. The funny part is that when I got there and looked closer, I realized that this top IS a spice color — it's just been painted with a gray primer. Go figure.

EDITED to include two pics of the poor donor Jeep that this hard top comes from. I will carry on the flame...

Fixed RC's new off road lights on the SkinCrawler bumper....kept popping a fuse...switch terminals too close together of all things. I like the lights well enough I need to find the switch a real home in it.

Yanked the top down and slipped away from my business a couple hours to meet my family at an awesome farm , Google Tate Farms in Huntsville , great for kids.

Ordered Zones' 14.99 pinion adjuster kit for it ...it's pretty smooth despite the angles being off ..I just have to mess with stuff. The real reason I want to it is so once I center my axle I don't have to worry about changing the pinion and recentering the axle again.

Probably get my CV shaft tomorrow for my 03 , so I'm about to pull it out and sweep the shop and get ready to pull the drive shaft-again . Tomorrow after church it's rear pinion adjustment and new shaft I hope.

I'm playing with rear
auxiliary lights to replace the tacky ones on it or just nixing the extra lights in back on it.

Now to get @Hog to go wheeling ....

I'd paint it spice, that was a good deal.

Yeah, I was planning to paint it Spice...but now I'm wondering if I can't just strip the primer off to get to the original Spice beneath it. Anyone know if the hard tops are factory-painted or is the SMC molded in that color?

The guys at the junkyard were super helpful. This thing was listed for 1,200 and we wheelt and dealt down to 750 because of the primer that I now have to either remove or paint over. I'm pumped about the deal I got.

Not sure on the finish...you might play with low heat and even test soak a section with go jo handcleaner , and see if it comes off with a White scotch Brite pad.

Think outside the box, maybe even get it to peel off ..test a section with dawn and water and Saran wrap to keep it damp .

@Zorba Do you happen to have a link for that cool little termination block?

That Hardtop looks brand new!

It was painted sometime before I purchased the Jeep but yeah, it's actually in very good condition. What I initially thought was a rushed amateur paint job has actually held up surprisingly well in the two years I've owned it. I definitely overpaid for this Jeep but the hard top makes up for it a little.
