California NorCal Jeep adventures!

I pulled a 40' toy hauler that way 2 yrs ago to Marysvale UT and my Jeep on a trailer to Moab the year before that. There's a reason they call it the loneliest highway in America, there are some things to see along the way and I don't think it takes much longer and there are a few curvy sections, but mostly this...

Favorite way to go. Taken all the main ways and this is my favorite. Taken it the last 2 times and just enjoy the road. Can just cruise and enjoy seeing what the landscape looked like hundreds of years ago.

I agree, I’ve done the trip down I-80 to SLC 100 times if I’ve done it once.

I’m thinking 2/5-2/7 trying to do a dispersed camping/exploring trip around MNF is anyone is interested or has suggestions :)
You may have a decent amount of snow. The 10 day is looking pretty wet.

maybe sticking to lower elevations depending on the weather that weekend then :D
Trying to look at your profile and see what your running... Colorado zr2 diesel still with 32’s? Where in mnf you thinking ? Gees I would need a tent. Hmmm thinking about this? If I get my pinion angle correct and get barnes track bar bracket on and welded this 2/6 weekend might work.

Yep right on! I have a backpacking tent you could borrow if you’re ready/the weather doesn’t get us down.

Depending who all is coming I was curious to check out west of Letts Lake in @bobthetj03 backyard as I heard that area wasn’t as burned in 2018 and maybe lower elevation. Otherwise maybe in @Thunderhead area and do Log springs / Cold springs / Howard lake area (maybe camp further south the Friday night then spend sat exploring up that area

There's several areas along the High Glade lookout area. Elevation of the tower is at 4800 feet. The tower burnt down, but there are areas along the ridgeline that have good potential. Deer Valley campground is another, as well as Twin Valley's area, which takes you south to Bartlett Springs. Bear Creek Campground is another northeast of Deer Valley. I could be persuaded to make a day trip with you and show you around.

Thanks! I'll do a bit more research on that area. That might work well weather dependent, could get up there Friday night and set up camp then meet up and wheel Saturday.

I would be down for a day trip assuming we get some more snow. as far as camping, I'm not really outfitted for cold weather camping so it would depend on the weather

This does sound fun . I’m wondering about the cold weather camping though. I do have some firewood 🪵 . I appreciate the tent offer and I’m wondering if we’ll need to sleep in snow gear ! Lol .

What kind of terrain should we expect on the MNF run? Are these easy trails with hopes of snow?
Forest service roads mostly. Washouts and ruts are common in the winter months, but fairly easy stuff, unless there is snow. Snow will make it sporty!

Took the family for a little snow fun. This was about a mile past UTC.
