What did you do to your TJ today?

Jamison,
Can you tell me how the IPC ground and the radio ground interact?
Would unplugging the radio harness in someway become a problem with the computer?
Should I ground that wire to the chassis?
Thanks

Finally replaced the factory top with a frameless top. yeah, its a rampage but for the amount it cost i couldn't pass it up. Now if i can find the time to wash it and get the rear bumper replaced....

I‘m a big fan of the Rampage. I think it’s a great look on the LJ. I always thought the stock soft top looked a bit funny.

I like that top. No frame needed? I have hard top and no soft top parts. Does this come with everything needed? What’s part number?

Attempted to change the front axle U-joints behind the hubs. Steering wheel for The Hulk was pulsing on slow turns, and not on straightaways, especially when making tight turns, like into parking slots. Research said it was probably either unbalanced wheels or bad U-joints. Balancing the wheels had no effect, so I ordered the Spicer sealed (no grease) U-joints from the How To thread, and figured I would replace the hubs/bearings while I had it apart. Moog hub assemblies and Spicer U-joints showed up Saturday and I tore into it Monday while we had unusual 70+ degree weather here in the Mitten.

Passenger side went without a hitch, but the driver side was NOT having it. Got all the bolts for the hub out, but no amount of penetrant (tried Kroil, PBlaster, and the homemade ATF:acetone mix), banging on it with a BFH, and applying heat with the MAPP torch would budge it. Said “F it” and buttoned it back up. It’s at the shop down the street today, should get it back tomorrow. No pics, because I was too tired, pissed off, and greasy when I gave up. On the plus side, the passenger U-joint looked like it might have been the original (233K miles), it was so rusty/nasty. Glad I got to this before they failed!

Socket on one loose bolt of unit bearing and turn steering wheel to push it out against inner C. Works every time. Leverage is your friend.

Nice! Next time, I'll look closer at how to lever something like that out. Frankly, was just too close to the end of my rope. Thanks for the tip!

i ordered it from amazon back before xmas looks like it went up 30 bucks since then. and dont forget the header channel if you dont have one already. the top and header bar is all you will need. just make sure you put the top in the sun when its at least 75 degrees outside (i placed mine on the roof of a metal shed i have for 2 hrs) take your time putting it on and dont rush or try to force the zippers closed on the fist installation. let the top stretch and then zip a little and repeat until its zipped fully.
