Any experiences with the Undercover Fabworks skid plate?

That's good info. I haven't installed my engine skid quite yet because I wanted to paint all the steal parts, then had to do a little grinding on one of the arms, then re-paint, etc.
I had to grind a notch in the left side arm for the frame side as well. Getting the brackets put on in the correct orientation was the hardest part. I'll post pics tonight when I get home to save you the headache.

Same. It makes sense though cause you never know how it will line up. I used a 2x4 and floor jack to get the engine skid flush with the tc skid and then had to use a dead blow to get it into position so the drain plug was centered.
I ended up with an EZ drain valve which does a great job of directing the oil.

Thanks bud, I appreciate that!
The lighting is kinda shit, but it’s the best I could do. The arms are legs forward and out. The left (driver) mount tab is backwards and the right (passenger) is forwards

I tried to use the bottom mounts on the skid, which are there for a MML, but without grinding the skid down around the exhaust it wouldn’t clear. I didn’t want to fuck with it any longer so I just mounted it on the normal spot.

Phew! I had it right. Thanks again for the pictures!

I just received my skid yesterday. It's a nice looking piece.
Unfortunately it looks like I may be returning it. The skid extends 3.5 inches forward of the stock skid. This puts it right into the lower control arm mounts of my Clayton lift. I am considering cutting it up to make it fit, but I'll have to remove quite a bit of material up front.

Is this a mid or long arm kit? I’m about a foot from the front and rear factory brackets

I have always wondered why the UCF skid is made to sit so much farther forward. It’s not as if to give more total protection as it’s no bigger, just farther forward.

I am by no means a metal guy but I think the skid would still be structurally sound with that removed. I relocated the locker pumps to under the hood and very much recommend that.

I have a 1-inch body/motor mount lift, 2.5/3 inch suspension, and UCF extra clearance skid. No Tub clearance issues and no LoPro mount or exhaust mount mod needed at the transfer case. I did need to raise the two rear exhaust hangers to make up the difference. As said before every Jeep is different.

Did you need an SYE for this set up?

Yes you will need an SYE with double cardon driveshaft, adjustable upper control arms, and angled track bar bracket at a minimum to run the extra clearance skid plate.
If you have no suspension lift and a 1” MML, I believe you could run the extra clearance skid and LO PRO trans mount without a SYE. You would be gaining 2 1/2 “ but only raising your transfer case 1 1/2”. Plus you don’t need a body lift. This is if you have the 5 speed

Yeah, but @Lax22 has a 2.5-3” suspension lift. That alone is getting close to needing an SYE and DC. Raising the transfer case another 1.5” is definitely in SYE territory.

Yes, I have no experience running this with a loPro mount and stock suspension. I did try to mount this extra clearance skid plate on my stock 04 TJ Rubicon with an NV3550 5-speed transmission and stock trans mount, but the angle was too extreme with stock arms, springs, and driveshaft so I did not try and drive it.

I remember someone with a TJ rubicon doing it awhile back using the mount and no body lift, but that was on jeepforum and I can’t find the post to reference it.

I have the extra clearance tc skid with LO PRO trans mount. My JB SS SYE is arriving tomorrow.Tom Wood driveshaft Monday. Currently have 2” spring lift, 1/2” body lift,1” MML. Don’t know when my SAVVY control arms are coming. I can drive it right now the way it is with just a little vibration but I’m not for fear of drive line damage.l did add some hard 1/8”rubber between the two half’s of the LO PRO. I don’t seem to have the idle vibes associated with this mount. But I only have a few road miles on it.I don’t know if that is making a difference or it will hold up as I just used silicone to glue the rubber to the LO PRO
