What did you do to your TJ today?

Update on my jeep:
In the last month I have installed a 3” old man emu heavy spring kit
I paired this lift with some Rancho RS5000X shocks, this is my daily so I wanted it to ride smooth. Installed rear track bar relocation bracket along with a JKS front adjustable track bar.
I just ordered new Brown Dog 1” motor mounts along with a Savvy 1.25 “ Body lift.

Replaced the Delphi fuel pump this afternoon on my first day of vacation with a warrantied replacement. im gonna buy a Bosch now that they are available again and toss the Delphi crap out, its been about a year and it was unreliable. had a fun time climbing the slopes with insufficient fuel supply passing through Denver CO.

coming from MI to CO I had a sudden random lack of acceleration almost like I hit the speed limiter trying to maintain the speed right when I got into Colorado from Nebraska but I wasn't sure If I observed it or I was just tired. nearing Denver again I had multiple stutters... crossing my fingers id make it another 200 some odd miles and up and over cottonwood pass.

first slope leaving Denver I had to pull over at a exit, stumbling like crap and no power to pull up hill (semi's were passing me) no matter what gear 75% throttle just to keep moving on the road felt like hitting speed limiter. let everything cool down for a while then continued on. everything seemed fine from there on but a persisting excessive cranking every after key cycling I figured something was wrong with the fuel pump.

borrowed a fuel pressure tester and watched the fuel pressure, 0psi after priming, fluctuating between 0-8psi when cranking eventually up to 49 psi and starting after cranking and cranking. then 0 psi immediately after shutting off the engine.

new pump, starts up immediately... now I feel a hell of alot more confident to get up into the mountains.

Its nice out here guys, but Californias messing up the views as it is very hazy and you cant really see the mountains anywhere.

If you think the haze is bad there try being here. We are 80 miles from the fire and some days it’s pretty bad.

Cleaned up the headlight trim and grille, painted both.

The PO had cross threaded one of the three hood hinge bolts so badly that even after running a tap thru the bolt retainer threads several times and using a die on the bolt; I was only able to repair the threads on the bolt.
Purchased a used one on Ebay, but it was burgundy.
Scuffed it up, dusted it with Eastwood primer and painted it.
Replaced the drivers side hood hinge bolt retainer this morning before it became TOO hot outside.

Yup - I was as far east as Maine 2 weeks ago on a motorcycle trip - and even out there we were seeing lots of smoke from the west coast and Canada. Crazy.

I did a lot yesterday.

Found out the hard way why they say to drain the transmission before removing it from the vehicle. Everything was great until we pulled the dipstick tube. Then it turned into a crime scene. 3rd the first time I've failed to catch 90% of the ATF in the past 4 weeks. Should've bought stock in oil dry.

But we did get it out w/o too much trouble. Dirty as you'd expect on the outside, but pristine on the inside of the bell housing. That plus the fact that the upper two bolts weren't E12's as I expected makes me think this transmission may not have 190k miles on it after all. Not sad about that!!

While the trans was out, we did the RMS and are in the process of doing the oil pump. Getting the tube into the new pump was HARD. It got late so I called it a night. Noticed a little groove in the main bearing cap, so I probably have some trouble in my future.

The face of the thing also has a strange mark on it that seems to align perfectly with the flex plate cover thing Anybody ever seen this before?

The purpose behind this work was to relocate the transmission breather. I had hoped to use a 90deg fitting and thread into the existing hole, but even after threading it in the entire way, it still brushes against the torque converter ever so slightly. I thought about grinding some of the meat off the fitting, but it will still rub on the hose...and I could cut some of that away, and honestly I could probably go with it as-is, but I feel like the universe is telling me to use the "more standard" method of pulling the pump and drilling the top of the case.

Forget the oil dry get one of those vacuums and suck the oil out first.

Thanks!! Going to miss the white rubicon!!! View attachment 269901
Great looking LJ! Why are you getting rid the white one? I think I see a hood louver on your LJ. Since you just bought it I have to assume that you did not put it on. Care to share a picture? I'd like to see how its holding up. I have a louver but just cant cut the hood, yet.

I bought the much ballyhoo'd Top Sider pump. Virtually useless. Sure, it will pump some out, but it doesn't get enough out to not make a mess. Although my mess this time was related to the dipstick tube. Regardless, new pan with drain plug is on the way.
