Replaced the Delphi fuel pump this afternoon on my first day of vacation with a warrantied replacement. im gonna buy a Bosch now that they are available again and toss the Delphi crap out, its been about a year and it was unreliable. had a fun time climbing the slopes with insufficient fuel supply passing through Denver CO.
coming from MI to CO I had a sudden random lack of acceleration almost like I hit the speed limiter trying to maintain the speed right when I got into Colorado from Nebraska but I wasn't sure If I observed it or I was just tired. nearing Denver again I had multiple stutters... crossing my fingers id make it another 200 some odd miles and up and over cottonwood pass.
first slope leaving Denver I had to pull over at a exit, stumbling like crap and no power to pull up hill (semi's were passing me) no matter what gear 75% throttle just to keep moving on the road felt like hitting speed limiter. let everything cool down for a while then continued on. everything seemed fine from there on but a persisting excessive cranking every after key cycling I figured something was wrong with the fuel pump.
borrowed a fuel pressure tester and watched the fuel pressure, 0psi after priming, fluctuating between 0-8psi when cranking eventually up to 49 psi and starting after cranking and cranking. then 0 psi immediately after shutting off the engine.
new pump, starts up immediately... now I feel a hell of alot more confident to get up into the mountains.
Its nice out here guys, but Californias messing up the views as it is very hazy and you cant really see the mountains anywhere.
