    Strange sound, timing chain?

Inspect the area from below looking for silver particles that will indicate the harmonic balancer has moved rearward and is rubbing on the timing chain cover.

    Strange sound, timing chain?

Its a metallic scraping sound. Do an inspection of the harmonic balancer to see if the rubber that is sandwiched between the hub and the balancer is dried out. Sounds like the harmonic balancer rubbing on the timing chain cover.

    Gauges stopped working

I would remove the plastic clam shells that surround the steering column and inspect the ignition switch wiring and connectors for signs of overheating. Remove both lower speaker covers and verify the ground wiring connections under the retaining screws to ensure they are clean and tight. There...

Chipped a tab on my NP231 oil pump Do I need to replace?

The other three tabs will hold the oil pump in place as other members have previously posted; although I would use a bright light and a magnifying glass to inspect the broken tab for tiny cracks that cannot be seen in normal light. You would want an otherwise missed crack turning into a chip...

    Florida Speedometer Gears

These 5 short shaft speedometers gears are what I accumulated over the years since the purchase of my '98 XJ and '01 TJ.
