I drained the water out of the rad and refilled it with coolant this time and the check engine light has disappeared! :D

According to rockauto the gates housing is a match for 2003. My 2003 has a 4 speed auto in it so I think it's considered the later models which means 2004-2006 parts should fit?

That part number is the same as the temp sensor currently in the car. Hmmm the plot thickens! I would love to buy OE parts all the time, but here in Australia OE is ridiculously over priced and parts are scarce

I've been researching all night and haven't found any information on alternate temp sensors for TJ's! :crybaby2:

I bought the housing online and I've already installed it so I might just opt for a new temp sensor. Can't hurt to have a new sensor anyway. Do you possible have a part number for it?

2003 TJ Sport 4.0L (I'm in Australia)

Hey guys, Recently installed a Gates thermostat housing 34741 and the factory temp sensor doesn't fit. It is very slightly too large for the housing. Can someone recommend a sensor that will fit? or any advice on the situation? Thanks! Edit: For a 2003 Wrangler TJ Sport 4.0L Auto

Fortunately there was enough of the bolt sticking out of the block to get the vice grips on to it and pull it out, what a relief! Now I'm really starting to question if the torque wrench is working....it's brand new....

I used a 3/8 torque wrench and set it to 17 ftlbs. I'll take the water pump off tonight and see if there's any sticking out. Hope to god there's enough sticking out to use vice grips

That Derale system is really nice! But I can't justify $400+ AUD on that setup. I've opted for a regular transmission cooler and will have to fab up a mounting system. Are there any other options apart from taking out the transmission pan and getting a bung welded on?
