    Thermostat housing, temp sensor mismatch

I recently replaced the water pump, fan clutch, thermostat and housing and hoses. I filled it with straight water to check for leaks

    Thermostat housing, temp sensor mismatch

I drained the water out of the rad and refilled it with coolant this time and the check engine light has disappeared! :D

    Thermostat housing, temp sensor mismatch

I haven't replaced the sensor. It is still the original stock sensor that I reinstalled

    Thermostat housing, temp sensor mismatch

So I've got the car back together and started it and got the code P0118. Coolant temp sensor. I'm thinking this might have been caused by having just refilled the radiator and possible air locks? The temp gauge seems to work fine and the car has no leaks so I'll be draining the water out and...

    Thermostat housing, temp sensor mismatch

Thanks guys, I was talking about the temp sensor and I managed to get it reasonably threaded in. I'll know if it's fine once I get the rest of the car back together. As for the thermostat housing, I used a torque wrench to tighten them up. I snapped a bolt tightening the water pump to the...

    Thermostat housing, temp sensor mismatch

So I spoke to the store that sold me the housing and they said it has a dry seal and the threads are supposed to be tight. So I got a wrench and started cranking it down. I got a few more turns on it and it feels really really tight but seems to be tightening slowly? Anyway, it still has a...

    Thermostat housing, temp sensor mismatch

According to rockauto the gates housing is a match for 2003. My 2003 has a 4 speed auto in it so I think it's considered the later models which means 2004-2006 parts should fit?

    Thermostat housing, temp sensor mismatch

That part number is the same as the temp sensor currently in the car. Hmmm the plot thickens! I would love to buy OE parts all the time, but here in Australia OE is ridiculously over priced and parts are scarce

I've been researching all night and haven't found any information on alternate temp sensors for TJ's! :crybaby2:

    Thermostat housing, temp sensor mismatch

I bought the housing online and I've already installed it so I might just opt for a new temp sensor. Can't hurt to have a new sensor anyway. Do you possible have a part number for it?

    Thermostat housing, temp sensor mismatch

Hey guys, Recently installed a Gates thermostat housing 34741 and the factory temp sensor doesn't fit. It is very slightly too large for the housing. Can someone recommend a sensor that will fit? or any advice on the situation? Thanks! Edit: For a 2003 Wrangler TJ Sport 4.0L Auto

    Help snapped water pump bolt

Fortunately there was enough of the bolt sticking out of the block to get the vice grips on to it and pull it out, what a relief! Now I'm really starting to question if the torque wrench is working....it's brand new....

    Help snapped water pump bolt

I used a 3/8 torque wrench and set it to 17 ftlbs. I'll take the water pump off tonight and see if there's any sticking out. Hope to god there's enough sticking out to use vice grips

    Help snapped water pump bolt

Ok guys bad news today, snapped one of the water pump bolts while torquing them up (replacing water pump). Not sure how it happened when the rest of the bolts torqued up fine. The damage has been done now but I'm coming to you guys with any advice or information on getting this bolt out. I'm...

    Transmission Temperature Monitoring

They're actually 31's with 3.73 ratios, if I ever went bigger tyres I'd consider re-gearing

    Transmission Temperature Monitoring

That Derale system is really nice! But I can't justify $400+ AUD on that setup. I've opted for a regular transmission cooler and will have to fab up a mounting system. Are there any other options apart from taking out the transmission pan and getting a bung welded on?

    Transmission Temperature Monitoring

Hi Guys, I own a 2003 Wrangler Sport in Perth, Australia and I had an overheating issue which has led me to overhaul and safe guard the cooling system. I'm going to install a transmission cooler and was wondering if there's a way to monitor transmission temps? I've read the OBD2 port may or...
