    Speaker Static / Issues

Hey All, Had the top off my 04' Jeep TJ the other day, and per usual with my luck a storm came barreling in, only lasted 30 mins or so, but it down poured. Entire inside of the jeep got soaked. Jeep started and drives fine. But my headunit (Sony XAV-1000) and speakers (Sony XS-R1346) are...

Damaged spider gears: What should I do?

I don’t remember if I removed the drums or not. I don’t think I did but then again I’m not entirely sure to be honest. I was new to jeeps at the the (still am) im use to BMWs and Porsches. Not sure if anyone else can chime in and confirm if need to remove drums/brakes.

Damaged spider gears: What should I do?

I meant to reply the other day. Just jack rear end up, put on jack stands, take wheels off. When you get to the c clip part just push each side in just a little bit at a time till you can get c clips off. Don’t push to much or to hard or you’ll destroy your axle seals. I used this video.

Damaged spider gears: What should I do?

I did the spider gears on my own in my driveway. Wasn’t as hard as some of the videos made it out to be on YouTube. I am mechanically inclined so that might be why. I left the ring and pinion bearing to the professionals who do it all the time. Mine needed the spider gear and bearings, after...

    Flag Etiquette

Well, this took a different turn. As far as I was taught, when a flag is being using for a procession (whether by foot or vehicle) the flag should be on the right side (aka the right/passenger side of the vehicle). In my case its not a procession but I am putting it on my vehicle, so this is the...

    Flag Etiquette

Yeah this is a big NO NO. Never should be on left side unless you have another flag on right side.

    Flag Etiquette

Hi All, I'm pretty well versed in flag etiquette, but I have hit a stump. I've fabricated a mount for my tire carrier, but this would leave my US flag centered. Now usually the US flag when flown on a vehicle should be on the passenger side, before I mount my flag, I am curious, is it okay to...

    GPS Tracking For Your Jeep

Cops are busy with a bunch of other stuff going on, nothing you can't solve your self with some tools.

    Wheel Spacing/Gap

Not sure if the wheels are aftermarket or factory, i've only had the jeep for 2 months now. The shop owner, which I trust he does honest work, told me it can be dangerous since if the lugs are holding the wheel up, and say one of the studs snaps off, it can lead to another falling off eventually...

    Wheel Spacing/Gap

Hey Everyone, recently after having differential bearings replaced and getting howling noise repaired, the shop owner pointed out that the Jeep was missing some sort of spacer? If you look at the photos I have attached, he explained to me that the wheels on the Jeep are aftermarket and the wrong...

Damaged spider gears: What should I do?

Just an update for anyone who come across this thread one day looking for help: Ended up being the pinion and carrier bearings. My local transmission/differential shop took care of it and installed a differential bearing rebuild kit, also new axle seals. Drives like a dream now.

Damaged spider gears: What should I do?

Okay; took for drive, drives good, still makes the whining noise, when engine braking. As soon as I put it in neutral or depress clutch noise goes away. Replaced spider gears as I thought it was the culprit, guess not. The ring snd pinion didn’t seem damaged. What else could this be?

    Seeking opinions on damaged differential

Replacing the spider gears isn’t hard at all, believe me I’m no mechanic just your run of the mill driveway DIYer. I’m no expert in Jeeps either, I’ve had my tj for about a month now. (Use to working on BMWs). Here’s the advice I was told to replacing spider gears. I just finished mine today...

Damaged spider gears: What should I do?

Well took no ones advice, shop couldn’t fit me in until 3 Weeks, so I decided I’d tackle the job. Installed new spider gears, cleaned out all metal shavings, and throughly cleaned out the rest of the housing. I can safely say, this isn’t a hard job, it was actually easier to leave the...

    Opinion on steering geometry

Did you do an alignment? Wheels balanced? I had same issue after replacing steering. My wheels balanced and doing a good job on the alignment made a worlds difference. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/how-to-align-your-jeep-wrangler-tj.85/

Damaged spider gears: What should I do?

They won’t work on jeeps older than 2003, I tried them when I first got the Jeep. Only 2003 and newer and less than 130k miles. I met the mileage, I only have 88k. Kind of stupid but hey to each their own. I think I am leaning toward TrueTrac. The shop down from me works strictly on trucks and...

Damaged spider gears: What should I do?

I’m trying to find a 4x4 shop near me that can handle the job. Here’s a another question, regear or get a TrueTrac/LSD? I can only afford one or the other not both, which would be more beneficial? I’m Boston we see all 4 seasons, I will be doing some off roaring, mainly trials not much rock...

Damaged spider gears: What should I do?

Yeah an upgrade is out of my realm... setup an appointment at tranny shop down the street, will see tomorrow what he says. I’m curious, should I take this opportunity to regear? I’m running 33s, the little brackets on diff cover said 3.07.
