Yes. And most base models didn't have security or any of the fancy electronics.

That means it's a CCD bus. Which means the PCM from your 2003 truck won't work. You need a 2001.5 or older PCM. Year doesn't matter but you want it from a base model truck.

OBA is a nice option. But A/C depending on where you live can be more important.

I don't either but if you're are given a vehicle I guess you can do it cheaper. After my first V-8 swap I'd never do another without going through the engine first.

Depends on your insurance company. Some allow you to state a value and then insure it for that amount. State Farm says they want receipts showing the additional parts. And from what I've read Hagerty has some stritc rules about usage. But I've never checked.
