    #6 Misfire, sometimes, at idle.

2005 6 cylinder, 6 speed, rubi LJ. Not all the time, but often enough that it is a hassle. It will idle a little rough and usually, not all the time, it will throw a code ten to fifteen minutes later. I have replaced the plugs, I have replaced the factory heat shielding (thinking it was a...

Front locker light blinking, intermittently, in 2 high

2005 Rubicon LJ, started about a month ago, give or take, intermittently the front "Front Locker" light will flash. The number of flashes varies, the timing of it seems to be random. We returned from an 7500 mile plus trip from VA to UT to NV and back to VA and did not have this issue. Any...

SOLD Brand new Bestop trail cover for LJ

I have a brand new, not in original packaging but still brand new and unused, Bestop Trail cover for an LJ. Seeing as I have a Gr8Tops safari top and will not be taking it off I have no need for it. These are $174 for a TJ from Quadratech, I could not find one for an LJ. I am asking $100 for...

2005 LJ fuel rail / injector insulation

So two years ago we went on a pretty great trip from Virginia to Colorado. Camping and four wheeling (sorry, the PC term is Overlanding). After several hours of highway driving my check engine light would come on. A quick scan revealed a misfire code for, usually, cylinder 3. Sometimes it...

Water heater for my M416 trailer and RTT

When Lucy and I went to Colorado two years ago we towed our M416 with monster size RTT. It was a great trip, we have 16 gallons of on board water, hot water heater and a privy tent to take showers in. All in all it worked well, apparently though I did not get all the water out of the water...

Another bad experience with powder coating

So me and powder coating do not get along. I have complained about it before and some well respected people on here have come to its defense and stated it was just a poor job of applying it....Well....I still have to disagree. Granted, my latest issue is approximately 13 years old, the Kilby...

How to change the front axle seals on a Rubicon Dana 44

My 2005 LJ Rubi. I noticed some oil on the left knuckle, I had already replaced the unit bearings, ball joints, and axle u-joints about a year ago. I knew I should have done the inner axle seals then but I did not have another vehicle to drive at the time......

    Thoughts on P2098 code?

So my check engine light came on, I plugged in my handy dandy reader and opened up the app on my phone, "Post catalyst fuel trim system too lean" is what it says. So I research and of course there is a whole host of "could be this.... or this......or this....." I am thinking it is either a bad...

Cosmoline or Fluid Film, what say you?

So there has been some previous posts about this, but I did not see any one offer any real opinions on cosmoline. I know in the Corps a new rifle would be coated with this stuff and what a PIA to get it all off.....that being said, it would seem to me to be as good or better than fluid film...

How do you apply Fluid Film?

Fluid Film is far less expensive by the gallon than it is in the spray can. Having found that out I am curious how you all apply this amazing stuff to your jeep frame, etc.........

    Lost oil causes?

My 05 LJ has 121,500 miles on it. It does not produce any significant amount of blue smoke, nor does it mark it's spot with oil on the ground. But yet I am adding a quart of oil every month and a half.... I have had this Jeep since new and this is a relatively new development. I have never...
