Questions about winterizing my 2005 Unlimited

The correct way to winterize your vehicles is to move to a location where you don't need to.......lol.

    Already regret the JKU

As for Chrysler transmissions, I have the 8spd (designed by ZF, built by FCA) in my 2016 Charger, and its great. Only 3yrs, 30k miles so I can't say much for long term durability, but functions quite nicely.

    Catalytic convertor removal

I don't understand all this hate for cats. Its better for the environment, plus is really sucks being behind somebody who doesn't have them. And in today's world where I can buy 50mpg, or 700+hp cars that can do 10s in the quarter, what performance is lost? We've come a long way from the...

Diamond In The Rough. New To Me 97 TJ

Yes you have a lot of work, but if you have any wrenching skill, Jeeps are about the easiest things to work on (as long as the rust is ok). Parts are fairly easy to find ( https://www.quadratec.com/ plus many others), and there are many people on forums that spend their life modifying their...

TJ won't run after sitting for a long time

Since it was sitting for a long time, could the intake manifold be plugged? Maybe some creature built a nest? Same with the exhaust side. Although I would guess that would have it kinda start, but not run. Just throwing out wild guesses.....

TJ won't run after sitting for a long time

If you have a combustible substance in the intake with spark, but see no effect, then maybe consider very unlikely things like: Do the valves work? Could they be frozen open, lifters totally collapsed or busted, timing chain broken, etc.... Pop the valve cover, crank the motor, and see if...

TJ won't run after sitting for a long time

If you spray carb cleaner / starter fluid in as you were cranking it and saw no affect, then you must be missing a spark. You may have a fuel issue too, but I’d work on the spark first. The PCMs are pretty resilient, so I’m guessing is some broken (or chewed through) wire somewhere.

Should I remove my milk jugs?

I've always wondered if they have a very slight positive affect on highway fuel economy. One of the worst aerodynamic shapes is a rotating cylinder (think tires), so anything that sits in front of them and splits air from hitting the cylinder is a benefit. But the jugs are pretty small, so...

    Good Deal?

That looks pretty reasonable for the greater Bay Area. I picked up a 2004 last year with 63k miles, but had to pay $12k. If you want a cleaner one, the price is going to go up.

Anyone good with electronics and wiring? Switching a halogen bulb on a circuit board to an LED bulb

Try the 570ohm. That should give 570 = (14 - V) / .02amp. Solving for V we have 14V - (570) (.02) = 2.6V. That should be enough to light the LED, especially if you are getting more of 14.2V from the alternator. With the non-standard values, and the variable voltage for individual cars, you...

Anyone good with electronics and wiring? Switching a halogen bulb on a circuit board to an LED bulb

Chris, The resistor can go anywhere in the circuit (pos or neg side). If you can’t find 550 ohm, look for a bit larger ohm value.....that should be fine. You can also add multiple resistors in series and you just add the ohm value in that case. So two 250 ohm and a 50 ohm would give you 550.

Anyone good with electronics and wiring? Switching a halogen bulb on a circuit board to an LED bulb

You need to add a resistor to bring the voltage down from 14 to the 3V that your LED wants. From ohms law, R = (V1 -V2)/ L. In your case R = (14V - 3V)/ .02amp. So you need a 550 ohm resistor in the circuit. Here is a link that can help give a better explanation...

Anyone else running a "heavy duty" fan clutch?

No prob. I’d assume your M3 engine has an electric fan like almost all modern motors. Jeeps are somewhat different as they may need maximum cooling at a low rpm with very little vehicle speed.

Anyone else running a "heavy duty" fan clutch?

Fans can pull a lot of HP. Long video, and about engines that turn higher rpms than the 4.0, but still interesting to watch when eating breakfast.
