hey guys! Newbie here. I have a question I haven’t had much luck finding the answer to. I’m replacing the tub on my 98 2.5 5 speed. I’ve already bought a complete 02 tub that has everything there. The entire wiring harness for the body, and engine. Plus interior and everything else. The only possible problem is that the 02 tub came off of a 4.0 5 speed frame. Obviously the two plugs on the right side of the computer go to the harness for the engine, and I just have to swap out the two, but what about the other plug on the computer? I know it runs across the top of the firewall and plugs into more stuff from the engine, then goes in the cab. Am I going to have to swap the entire wiring harness? Any help is appreciated here, and sorry if I’ve left out any information needed. Thanks!!

I can’t answer your question directly, but I’d suggest you get familiar with the factory service manual for both years. They’re free over in the TJ resources sub, section 8w of the manuals have all the wiring info. You can find schematics & connector pin outs in there. Maybe you can see what all differences there are.

I recommend swapping out the wiring harness and gauge cluster from your 2.5. It is more work, but if you don't then you will likely be running down electrical issues constantly, and nothing kills the experience like random electrical gremlins. Plus you will have an easier time with repairs and troubleshooting moving forward.

Would it be a direct swap going from a 98 to an 02? I know the a/c controls are different, as well as a few smaller things like wiper setting and whatnot.

I suspect you have the slider controls in your '98, and the '02 has the rotary. I think you can do a swap-here is a link to a write up on this site: Slider to Rotary Swap. On our '98s the fogs are in the center column and on later years they are on the turn signal switch. I am unsure of any other nuances.
