I noticed the battery on 06 TJ does not have any hold downs. Does this model year have a specific hold down and clamps to go with the OEM tray? I bought 2 J-bolts but there are no holes to pass them through on the base of the tray.

Yep that's it, I just removed my battery to fish my new GMRS antenna cable through the fire wall and reinstalled the battery and that's just what mine has it is a 2005
I swapped a battery tray (bought used on ebay) from an older model Tj into my 05 to get the J-hooks back. My factory tray the little wedge the bolt that holds it down someone had snapped in the past.
You'll likely need to build/modify the top plate so it doesn't come in contact with the computer. I just cut some stock as a temporary hold down. I plan to build a better bracket here soon.
Just broke the factory battery hold down mechanism, Overtightened and broke it in half. Silly mistake on my behalf, Pretty weak set up compared the older factory J hook style. Ordered up a new block, sigh....
It seems like some '06 TJs had the block style hold downs and other '06s used the j-bolts. Its kind of confusing. I just swapped a battery and neither style hold down (my '06 came with the j-bolts and I got a block with the new battery) is really working well.
Just bolts to/thru the tray to wedge the battery in place. It goes on the side of the tray closer to the grill/ furthest away from the firewall.View attachment 236640
