A good co2 set up can air a 35” tire from 8psi to 25psi in about 45 seconds if my memory serves me right

Me too. The closest comparison I could think of would be a nitrous tank in the cab. That has been done for years, but there have been examples of tank explosions that resulted in significant damage. I'm not familiar with CO2 tanks, but nitrous tanks have burst discs that attempt to prevent the entire bottle from turning inside out. I wouldn't run a pressurized tank inside the vehicle without a fail-safe.

Iirc the car in the photo had a tank where the owner had modified it by removing the burst disc. Car got hot and the bottle let go. My point was a burst disc or similar safety device should be used when a pressure vessel is used in a confined space.

Burst discs (pressure relief devices) are required on pressure tanks by law, you can't buy a tank without one.

There's no accounting for an idiot who chooses to defeat safety devices. That's why I got irritated with the above photo showing the damage after a modified tank blew. Like showing a totalled car and dead bodies as a reason not drive cars without also including the facts the driver was drunk and bent on suicide by car.

You can run air tools off the tank as well.

Can it interfere with the backseat at all? If so, I saw a really clean mount that bolted to the holes where the hard top would typically sit - however that took up a little of the leg room.

As an alternative setup if you’re pre-purchase, you could consider a higher pressure compressor like a York, which after all the gear and fills you’ll be close in cost and have a relative infinite amount of air.

That's where mine used to sit with rubber straps. It interfered with the tonneau cover (if you ever plan on running one)

With how premium the space is in a TJ it’s hard to argue for a tank to me. Even in my LJ I don’t really want to give up that much space.

That's why I went to the belt driven oba. C02 works well, but space is precious

Oh wow, I'm glad I asked. I was thinking it was out of the question since I wont be giving my ac up. This is now back on the table.

I had that same understanding for a while, now I’m just waiting on this kit from Steve I am tired of the 15min fill ups several times a week.
