1997-1998 Wrangler Courtesy Light Plugs

Hello, I've been a member for a little bit now but have not contributed much. Would like to share some information that may help others looking to replace their 97 and 98 TJ courtesy lamps with LED or just the newer style plug. The 97 and 98 TJs used a different type plug than later models. It is the Delphi 12059250. They are still available at this time.

The OEM type plug I used to plug into the factory harness is shown here (Please note, there are reference drawings on this website for more detailed information)

Keep in mind you still need the Metri-Pack 150 male terminal for this half of the plug. According the the part number listed on the Delphi drawing, the original terminal is obsolete. I used the following instead:

This allows you to use something like this that bolts right up to the factory location. This comes with the pigtail to the newer style plug, crimp/solder the male terminal to each wire and plug them into the 12059250 connector. Then plug your new conversion pigtail into the factory wiring harness behind the dash and there you go.

Just FYI reverse bulbs have the same base as the 97-98 courtesy lamps which means you can just plug in some bright ass LED bulbs right into them.

Looks good! Mine were missing all together and couldn't find a direct replacement light housing so went the route I did. Ill order some of those for my reverse lights though, mine definitely needs it. Thanks.

Those bulbs are super bright. Almost maybe too much for interior lights. Very good for reverse. The only reason I removed them from the reverse lights is because these:

are much MUCH brighter and I highly recommend them. Looks like he's got one set left too!
