Okay so this is my first post, but Ive been reading this forum weekly since I bought this Jeep over a year and half ago. Came time for my new to me vehicle, wife knew Ive always wanted a Jeep. She for some reason agreed to two doors(we have two kids that need to start driving mind you). I searched and found a nice running 99 with a new lift, and 35 in tires. I was planning on replacing the rough country lift, and going to 33's. But I love the look of the 35s! Ive spent the last year fixing the small issue and wore out parts. Next is gears and shocks. Im a local mailman, so Im use to a rough ride. But my jeep is super bouncy with the RC shocks. At 55 on the country roads here, its always a bit touchy when I hit bumps. But I only drive 12 miles round trip a day to work and back. Never above 45 daily. Im set on buying Fox brand shocks. Its one of those things Ive always wanted. Ive been doing my research and the prices are making me rethink a little. Ive been saving for the premium 2.0. But this Jeep is mostly a street queen. Plus there's other things that need to be addressed. Litte rust is starting under the driver floorboards. Its my daily, only offroad Ive done is on my family farm and deer season. Ive taken a lot pride in fixing this jeep, bringing it up to date. Replacing cheap parts the last owner used, and running down random breakdowns on a 25 year old vehicle. But I have to be at work no matter the weather. Now for my questions. If I step down to the Adventure series, would I still get a decent ride? Its 400$ vs 900$.I know its going to be better than the "Premium Rough Country" shock that I have now. They leave much to be desired. In searches not much comes on the adventure series. Im alot more comfortable with 100$ per. After all I could always buy rancho for cheaper, and after the post on here I know ill be close to happy. I just want to try the Fox brand. Running a 3.5 suspension, 1.25 body lift, on 35s.

What tire pressure are your running? Preference will vary by load, ambient temps etc, but target 24-28 psi.

I daily drive my 2000. Work is 40 miles a day, mostly highway at 65 - 70 mph. Rides like a dream. Better than I would have expected it to.

I removed all the RC stuff installed by the PO, except the 3" springs. RC shocks were brand new when I bought it and were absolutely horrid; replaced with Rancho's. I have three other Jeeps and the TJ handles as comfortably as all of them

@Mac nailed it. Mike made a great point as well if you’re running 35 psi you’re going to feel every single crack in the road. Air down a smidge and your spine will love you for it.

Leave the 35's if you are going to re-gear anyway.. go to 5.13. Jeep looks great. I run adjustable Fox 2.0 but that seems like overkill for what you're needing. I like the adjust on the fly highway to trail but as mac said the swaylock is a much more noticeable difference

I've got adventure series on my 2" lift TJ. I've enjoyed them so far. Better than Monroe or Bilstein I've run in the past. Shocks are real subjective. New seat cushions and proper tire pressure are not subjective, however.

Ok so I ordered a set of the Black Maxx from jackit.com. I was set of the foxes but the reviews just aren't there for that kind of money. Plus there's a ton of other post on here that speak highly the black maxx's. I am still planning to order the fox steering stabilizer. I highly doubt the rough country one that I have is doing much if anything. Im running 35 psi now. Getting great tread wear, had them for over a year and half. But Im sure I could let down some. I know almost nothing about big tires, other than air down to offroad. Letting it down to 25 onroad is okay for my tires?

About to make a pizza run. Im going to air down to 25 and see if the wife even notices. The lift kit was just installed about two years ago. Is there anything else I need on hand to do this swap? Or parts that normally break? I know to spray down the bolts prior. Looks pretty straight forward to me.

Ok wife noticed! That made a huge difference! Hopefully the new shocks calms down some the buggy feel. But just airing down made me rethink some of my life choices. That might been the best thing ive done to it since I bought it! Waiting on my local jeep guy to get some room in his shop to regear. Definitely going to 5.13.

And get an Oro SwayLoc.

Your mind will be blown! Probably one of my favorite rides quality improvement mods.

It made that much of a difference to ride quality just around town? Im not doing heavy wheeling with this jeep. My daughter's driving a wj that I have big plans for when she's done with it. Im learning tons from this site, and other. I havent needed to unlock my sway bar yet. That's why I havent done much research on any swaybar setup. Come to think of it, my local jeepers club president did recommend a quick disconnect setup when I first bought it. He looked it over when I first bought it. But he hasn't had even close to stock setups in years, and couldn't remember the name. Ive been working on his and this sites upgrades since. Been a great first year, only had to tow it home once(starter). Other than a couple weird sensors that gave me some trouble, it been a great running jeep. But at speeds it wonders, and feels like a crab. I figured it was from the cheap rough country lift. So Ive been slowly replacing it. After these shocks go on, should I go with the Oro SwayLoc? Do I need to change anything else to install? I like my winch setup. We put it to use on our farm. My jeep is just a glorified four wheeler. So I figured it would always drive like that somewhat.

my Jeep wandered all over the road for awhile. Shocks, new tires, & tire pressure had the biggest effect on solving. If that's the problem you are trying to fix look at a "dry steering test" as well, lots of info on here about that

Ive done the dry testing several times and Ive replaced almost everything on the hubs on the fronts(20 year old vehicle with 35s). Never found anything broke, just maintenance. I will be going with black magic brakes next time. Mine dont drive terrible now. But it could be better, thats what Im after. It seems to just follow the easiest route and sometimes wonders side to side above 55. No vibrations up to 85. I didnt see the need to go any faster. Just taking the air pressure down to 25 already makes it feel like different jeep! Im planning on dd this thing for the next 10 years. That's my plan atleast. Thanks to everyone for the input! Ive learned a ton since I bought this Jeep. I just wanted something that I have to tinker with, that I can be proud to drive! Waiting on the shocks to get here, and doing more research on the Oro SwayLoc. Goal is for the ride to feel stock or better. We have trips planned after I get it regeared.
