Hello everyone. My Dad gave my 16-year-old son his 97 TJ Sport (4.0L, auto), and im doing some mods to it to make it look good for him. Wanted to get a 2" lift and some new wheels/tires for it. Ive done a good bit of research on this forum and have decided to go with the BDS springs and the Rancho shocks. My question is this... What's the best size tire/wheel? My local dealer quoted me a 265/70/17 with a 17x8.5 or 9 rim... but this is with a 2.5" rough country lift. After the research, I didn't want to go with the Rough Country lift. I want a setup that doesn't have a lot of empty wheel well space, but that also doesn't rub and won't need any trimming. Any pics would be great. Thanks in advance and love the helpfulness of this forum!

Here's a great place to start.

Making decisions on tire size is where to start. Tire size dictates lift which dictates other supporting modifications.

This a 2" spring lift with JK 17" rims. 1.25" spacer adapters, 265 x 75 x17 and Ranch 5000 shocks.
There is no rubbing when off roading in FL with front sway bars disconnected, but I have not flexed out the suspension like you would rock crawling.

Wait......... you disconnect the sway bars for beach crawling???? ;) ;)

Welcome to the forum from the other side of Chattanooga.

This is the best TJ forum on the net, read, ask questions and listen to I the answers and you will do good.

I know you said BDS but don't rule out Zone lifts, they are owned by BDS.

31’s or possibly 32’s on a 15” rim with 4-4.5” backspace
