The front break lines recently blew out on my 1999 Sport so I was going through and replacing all the steel lines. I have all of the new lines attached to the master cylinder and have the front lines attached to the brakes, but am having issues detaching the old rear lines from the brakes because of rust.

At this point I am considering just replacing the rear drum breaks because it seems like it might be impossible to put in the new lines without stripping the old screws, but I am wondering if a standard rear brake kit (like in the link below) solves that problem (does it include replacement connections for the brake lines?) or would I still be stuck with rusted/stripped screws I cant remove.

Any help would be appreciated.

Start spraying some Liquid Wrench or Kroil onto your hardware and onto your brake line fittings to make them easier to unscrew. A few spraying over a few days works best. :)

If you are replacing the steel line, just cut it and remove the entire rear drum brake wheel cylinder from the backing plate. A new wheel cylinder is $10, and it likely needs to be replaced anyway.

That's exactly what I was looking for, thanks!

I've sprayed it down a few times with liquid wrench to try to loosen it up, but will go for the cylinder if they are still not moving tonight.
