20 years of incrementalism or Blackjacks 98 SE

So previously I had just done the lazy thing of passing my wiring through the foam where the heater core passes through the firewall. So to remedy this I grabbed a length of 6 wire Arctic Flex cord and a grommet and cut a hole in the firewall. You can see my CB power wire I am not moving where the other wires passed.

Just found your thread. Nice read as you try to reconstruct what you’ve done in the past. 20 years and still upgrading. Incrementalism is a good word. Well done.

Stripping armor jacket wire is dumb kids don’t do it. I am trying to minimize the number of connections I have to make so here I am. A razor knife and these flush cut Kleins I use for zip ties work ok.

Thanks. Incrementalism seems to be a way of life for me.

So next on the list is to make use of the empty spots in the PDC. I want to put the fan, driving and pillar light relays in there. Fan was easy I used the hard top top heater circuit as it was already pinned. The lights I thought I found some female spades that would work but I was sadly mistaken. Will have to come up with a plan B.

I also made sure to bundle and cap off any wires that were not being used.

So while I contemplate my PDC problem on to the locker wiring. I should have taken a step back for a few as I have wasted a few connectors trying to route things as cleanly as possible. Still a work in progress.

I love hacking into my PDC to make my circuits looks factory, and keep all my fuses in one spot. I’ve done it many times (I’m about to do it today for an amp).

Years ago I picked up a used PDC from Davey’s, intact with all the wiring and relays. When I add a new circuit I pull the connectors I need from that unit. I found that much easier than trying to track down the factory connectors new, and I had everything for a few bucks.

I’ve even mastered making labels for the cover to match. Yeah, I’ve got problems…🙃

I have a feeling I am in the hunt for a PDC to hack up. I have one other idea that is less pretty but would get the job done.

For now while I wait for PDC parts I wired in a couple relays so I could at least drive it.

Put some POR 15 on the battery plate. Trimmed the battery blanket (yes the original one) so I can use the side posts on the battery
