2000 Center Console Lock Cylinder

In my 2000, the center console lock has a key broken off in it. I have a replacement Crown lock cylinder, but from what I've read I have to be able to turn the cylinder to remove it from the assembly. Would anyone know how to get the cylinder out of the assembly with the broke key inside it?

I thought the lock cylinder had 2 tabs on the backside you squeezed and the assembly came out of the console lid?

It isn't getting it out of the lid. It is getting the lock cylinder out of the lock assembly. Like the like below.

Gotcha...did you try a strong magnet to try and coax the broken key out?

Just just about everything to get it out, short of paying a locksmith.

I wonder if you removed the whole assembly and tapped it on something hard to jar the key loose?

That's my hope later this week when I get the Jeep back. I was posting to see if anyone else had the same experience.

You'll also need to rekey the new cylinder. If they aren't mangled you can take the pins out of the old one once you get it apart and reinstall in the new.worst case scenario you buy new pins and repin it by trial and error.

But i wonder why a key broke off in it in the first place?

No clue. The PO broke it off several years ago.
