I have 2006 Wrangler SE and purchase an excellent condition "04 Hardtop that has wiper, defroster and sprayer. Since I live near the Illinois/Wisconsin border its going to start cooling soon. I do not have any wiring on my dash or anything running to the back for a hardtop connection. What is the most simple thing I can do to get the wiper and defroster at minimum to work. The sprayer would be a bonus. Is there a plug I can purchase to the hardtop that will allow my to run wiring to my dash and add switches? links to vendors/ I do not want to rewire my entire dash i need something simple for my 16 year old to understand and that we can do together.
Thanks and look forward to the recommendations.

Unfortunately, the “simplest” method would be to swap the wiring out with wiring from a Jeep that had a hardtop. Otherwise you’re going to be running a lot of custom wiring to and from the front and rear and dash of your Jeep.

The defrost is actually pretty straightforward, but the wiper/sprayer are a little more in depth. Someone on here made a stand-alone harness but I can’t remember who it was. Hopefully he’ll chime in.

Here are a couple threads I made regarding this swap:
https://wranglertjforum.com/threads...r-tj-for-a-hardtop-part-1-dash-harness.15350/https://wranglertjforum.com/threads...-for-a-hardtop-part-2-rear-tub-harness.15553/Unfortunately this is much simpler on 97-02 models. 03-06 requires you to remove all of the wiring from the dash which severely complicated things. But these are a good basis to give you an idea of what’s involved with swapping harnesses between Jeeps.

Thanks I did read your post and nicely done. but now the starter just went out :( and guess what my son and I are doing tonight???)
BTW I think the defway to do this is to run a separate harness and have a few switches. But I still have several weeks before it starts getting cold. I just need the glass not to fog up and occasionaly wipe some snow off. Thanks again and will wait for the member to chime in.

There's a Mopar wiring kit that's no longer available. Occasionally they show up on Ebay or Craigslist.
I have an unfinished (homemade) harness I started some time ago. I would let it go pretty cheap if you're interested.
