I replaced the factory radio in my TJ and all of the speakers. I think the factory amplifier is dead as there is inconsistent sound coming from my new sub. I'm not trying to blow out any windows, just wanting decent sound. So my question is...is it possibly just to wire around the sub and power the sub and all speakers just from my new HU? If so, any tips, suggestions, instructions on how to do that? I'm thinking if I can just splice together the wires in the harness in the console but not sure where to start. I'm somewhat new to my TJ and to car audio in general but I'm a hands on guy and I would rather figure it out myself than pay someone to do it for me. Thanks for any help you can give!

What head unit did you purchase, and how many pre outs does it have on the back of the head unit(RCA jacks)? Does your HU have subwoofer controls?
I'd ditch that factory amp all together and get yourself a small mono block amp to run the sub. You'll have to run a power wire from the battery, a ground wire, and a power on/off wire(blue wire on the back of the head unit). Just mount the amp under the steering column. This is what I did,
