So I picked up an 04 5 speed Rubicon the other day, having a few issues as expected. One is my reverse lights. The Jeep is stock.
When I brought the Jeep home, reverse lights wouldn’t come on, verified bulbs were good and cleaned off the unnecessary amount of dialectic grease, and after that they turned on when put into reverse.
Here’s where the problem is. I had the reverse lights on with ignition turned to on position, putting the taillight covers back on, and the lights go out? 10 seconds later they come back on again.
So my reverse lights, when the Jeep is put into reverse, turn on for 10 seconds, off for 10 seconds, then keep repeating that same on/off cycle. All while the jeep is in reverse. Shifter wasn’t touched.
Could this be a bad ground issue ? Bad housing? Maybe the lights aren’t pulling enough electricity that it’s making them go on and off? I’m stumped.
