2006 catalytic converters not the same?

I’m replacing my exhaust headers on a 2006 TJ Rubicon 4.0 and the catalytic converters don’t look right (though I’ve never looked at a dual cat before). The rear bank looks fine with a nice looking honeycomb. The front bank appears to be missing the honeycomb though the sides look consistent and there aren’t any broken pieces inside. Is that some kind of design or does it indicate the front bank has something wrong in the exhaust and the cats are bad?

My guess would be that cat missing the honeycomb is bad..When Mine started acting up. Sounded like rocks in a can.

@oldjeepman is correct, that cat is bad. The rear cat might also be filled or clogged with debris from the failed front cat.
