23 Year Anniversary

Well it’s a shock to me as well. Today is my 23 year anniversary for marriage to my wonderful wife. I have always been in awe of people that have been married for a long time. My grandparents were for 79 years, my other grandparents for 51 til his death, my parents for 41 years til my dads death. This seems to be a trend that is no longer happening in today’s society. Divorce seems all to common. But with that being said life today isn’t like it use to be either so maybe that why. So as I sit here typing instead of hanging out with my wife .. we did just get back from a nice supper...I was curious with the forum talking about how Jeep people are family people and such, what are some nice stories you can share about your spouse and how long you have been married. ? My quick little story I’d like to share is my wife and I went to Vegas and got married at the Little White Chapel and stayed at the Excalibur hotel for a week with limo service and flight and dress attire for wedding for $870 for the week. .. and it’s been a wonderful life!!

My 24th is this Monday coming up. My wife and I met on February 7th, were engaged on the 12th, and married on the 17th. When you know, you know. (People are usually OMG when I tell them this, until I share that it spanned four years.) Congratulations!!

I think the difference between then & now is that people are no longer willing to force themselves to stay in unhappy marriages for the sake of the vow they took or avoid some stigma. Some say that’s a degradation of society, I believe people are always better off being happy rather than suffering in an unhappy marriage for the sake of the institution.

My parents are at 58 & counting while I made it 15 when it went sideways 9 years ago. My preference would have been to go the distance but when the shit hit the fan it was very obvious that trying to hold it together would've resulted in endless misery for all concerned so divorce was a no-brainer.

You know here in Alabama... After all those years of living with your sister... When you marry her , you already know each other pretty well.
I think that and the fact that you get cheaper car insurance attributes to a lower divorce rate here.

I love my wife and she's one of the most loved and respected people in our circle of friends. She is a hundred percent genuine. She prays for God to protect children everyday.

We have a lot of fun... have for 26 years.... She's my best friend and toughest critic... biggest fan and has been devoted and faithful.

I have a lot of fun messing with her... She told me one time she works very hard at just being normal... I told her it's not normal to have to do that.

What are my real feelings about marriage? First of all it's a really really good thing
... And secondly our country needs to get away from extended adolescence and young people need to start building a life together at an earlier age and grow up faster even if it means growing up together
.. this was common 50 years ago and today we I have 18 year old boys running around that have never pumped their own gas... I ran into a guy the other day his college-age son didn't know how to use a can opener. I don't care how you look at it... That's failing your children and those children are likely going to have a hard time with real life. One reason I say this is I am an employer... I don't want a guy in his twenties that acts like he's in his teens and I don't want a guy in his thirties that still behaves like he's in his twenties.... By the time a guy hits his thirties he should start to become accomplished in his vocation and well on his way to his best earning years... And what that means to the rest of the world is this guy has something to contribute.

Somebody that's in their 30s shouldn't be trying to figure out how to get to work on time.... That needs to get figured out about 17 or 18 , even if it means working at Publix or at a McDonald's.

I know this is a Jeep forum and I'm going to make a stretch and say this... You show me a guy that drives a Jeep ... If he can afford it as a toy he's doing good.... And most people in a jeep have the mentality that they're going to get there and get back and they know how to fix the thing if it breaks. That's my guy right there.



Marriage takes a hundred percent commitment from both people, it takes sacrifice and it takes discipline... It takes a lot of work... And it can reward you with a lifetime of good.

Congratulations Hog , you have a beautiful family and I'm very proud to call you and your awesome wife my friends.

I fell in love with my little bride at first sight,had a hard time getting a date with her.However not only do i still love her ,I am still in love with her.Come June 27th 2020 we will celebrate 63 years of wedded bliss.Hoping to take a little Jeep camping trip to the high country to celebrate.

My wife and I got married in Vegas as well, 16 yrs. ago. Flamingo hotel.
