Hey all. I’ve got a minor crunch when downshifting into 2nd. If I finesse it I can get to go in smooth. But it’s new since the tub swap. As a part of the swap I replaced the old stock 4wd transfer case linkage with a TeraFlex unit. I’m wondering if a mid adjustment of the linkage bar length could be causing or contributing to it?

Anyone have experience with this kind of issue?

Thanks,
-MH

Which transmission? Have you checked to see if your shifter is making contact with the tub?

sounds like a syncro is goin bad, my nsg that was fresh our of overhaul was doing the same thing in 3rd

Do you have a body lift or transfercase spacers installed that could cause improper centering of the shifter in the transmission well ?
With the engine off... test the movement of the shifter handle to determine if the shifter is coming in contact with the transmission well.
IF there is no contact in the transmission well; while performing the tub swap did you remove the shifter on the transmission z?
Several years ago while replacing a torn shifter boot I found the 4 shifter bolts on my '01 were backed out 1/4" allowing the shifter to wobble.
Verify the 4 shifter bolts are tight fastening the shifter to the transmission top.
