New to the forum. I have a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with no mods. Tires are LT245/75 R16. The Goodyear MT's are gone (Except for the spare tire). The 4 other tires are some street tire like el dorado. I apologize for newbie questions, but I have been reading everything I can find here in the forum for about a month. Decided to post since I'm still lost on what I would call budget/simple lift and tires. This thread is kind of where I think I would be at. Maybe an OME Lift, not sure. I did see the thread that said stock suspensions, biggest tire would be 31x10.5 on R15. For example, when I look at Goodyear Duratrac's. I see the 31x10.5 R15 is 30.8" and the LT245/75 R16(Stock Rubicon size) is 30.7". So, is it worth going down to 15-inch rims for 0.1"? Looks like the next size up for me would be LT265/75 R16 with actual size being 31.7 in the duratrac. I don’t see 32" tire in the duractrac, but I do see a 32x11.5 R15(31.8”) in MT/R’s. I assume going to LT265/75 R16 I would need some sort of lift? Could I get away with just 1.25" Body lift or do I need a suspension lift? I do plan on trial riding, but not rock crawling. So, I worry about Flex with the 31.7". Finally, the max I think I would ever go is LT286/75 R16 (33.1") or 33x12.5 R15 (32.8"). This looks Like I need at least 2” suspension lift and 0.5 to 1.25” body lift? Also, I see people in many threads saying they wished they stayed with 31”. I assume there referring to LT245/75 R16? Can some people share with a newbie why you wished to stay stock with 31”? For example, is it MPG, dollars when parts break, or drivability problems? I find myself many times saying doing I need a lift? While I have a few small trials I go to, I think the LT245/75 R16 would work, and all I need is a more aggressive tire like the duratrac. The other 80% to 90% of the time I’ll probably be going to the beach or going down flat well-maintained dirt roads. Also, I see Kelly Safari’s mentioned from time to time. I see Kelly is owned by Goodyear and I caught a thread of person saying Goodyear pushes older technology to Kelly. Not sure how true that is, but I would be curious if anyone like’s Kelly Safari also? I appreciate any help or insight that people can offer!
