Could I get anyone with a 32rh transmission to measure the total length of the dipstick.. i lost mine and bought a replacement but im not sure its the correct one. Thanks for any info
This is a common question and I've yet to see an answer I believed 100%.
If anyone has a 98-02 TJ with the 4.0 engine and automatic transmission please carefully measure the length of its dipstick and post it here. I'll add it to my notes for future reference.
Thank you!!!!!!! I just bookmarked your post.Mine is 28-7/8" from what would be the top of the tube.

Thanks. Mine is 26 inches. I thought it looked short. Appreciate the quick response. Have a great day. PS where is a good place to buy a dipstick?

4 quarts is a typical amount needed after that. If it's not slipping any at all I'd just wait until you have a known accurate length dipstick so you can be assured of a more accurate level check.I just did a fluid and filter on my tj. I added 4 quarts of fluid. Do you think I am safe with that until I can get the right dipstick. It seems to be shifting fine. I just don't want to do any damage if it is too full or too empty. Thanks again for all your help.
Is that the measurement of the transmission dipstick? Thanks
This may be considering adding whipped cream to the banana split you already provided but it'd be great to get the measurements from the bottom of the dipstick to the several informational lines stamped onto it giving the various ATF level add/full/cold/hot points. That way they could be added to a generic dipstick so it's usable with the 32RH.Yes for the transmission.

I pretty much make my own hours but I promised the GC I would get it to him today.
Bottom of dipstick to minimum 1-1/4 inch
Bottom of dipstick to maximum 1-7/8 inch
I get what you're saying but he previously gave a precise measurement of the entire dipstick length. Between all the measurements provided above I'd be very comfortable using them to determine its ATF level. Not to pick nits, but a measurement from the top of the dipstick would be more meaningful if you didn't think you had the correct length dipstick. No matter how long the dipstick is, the top will always be the same distance from the full mark.
