I had been seeing a nice solar yellow LJR around town, And one night I was in my jeep and saw it at a drive through, struck up a conversation and we chatted Jeep stuff in the BK parking lot, swapped numbers and rolled on. He was the real deal. An Army Veteran, had started a large jeep club and knew the platform we love very well. And ...a Texan. Talking a great guy.
He had told me he planned a lift, and a few weeks or so went by and he texted he had some questions on my set up.
We met up again.
Well, he sure did- he did a complete lift and had gotten his hands on some of the heaviest steering I’ve seen.
A while later he texted me he had some complications with the steering install and the jeep was down. I knew he and his wife had only one vehicle each and she was leaving for a vacation-
Easy fix. “please come get my white Rubicon. Keep it as long as you need.”
We were about to go out of town anyway, plus we have a situation with a neighbor that is a little weird....so I was more than happy for it to be in good hands.
He has shaken it down, helped me fine tune it and dial it in. Today we did the front axle u joints.
I told him to keep it as long as he needs, because he is doing his build right and doesn’t have a shop or the luxury of 2 cars, and I don’t want him rushing through any thing.
This is him heading home today. Gifted guy. Smart, mechanically skilled, great personality, good values.
It’s been the start of a good friendship.
