Adventures with ACC carpet kits

I currently have carpet and want to move away from it because of the stains and moisture retention. I still like the feel and sound of something over the tub making it more “cozy” like the carpet has offered but was always thought bedrug was that solution. What is that solution you would recommend and have done in rigs that don’t want carpet? Just leave the tub bare? Bedline?

Not sure really. The problem with bedliner is unless you having it professionally sprayed with something like Line-X or Rhino, then all you're getting is the same effort, less expense, and thick paint. Raptor, Herculiner and others of that type are just thicker paint, that's it.

Somebody just needs to invent spray on carpeting.

While in college, I did hydroseeding. If green is your color, I have the solution. ;)

Blaine - with all respect, you're starting to sound like a Liberal: Look for offense and you'll find it. I don't play that game, stop it. Please!
When you stop jumping into threads with shit that doesn't apply to you, then we have a deal. This was not a thread about whether or not one should run carpet, so why the fuck are you in it? That's as bad as Jerry telling everyone they don't need anything but an Anti-rock because that is what he runs in a thread about the differences. You want respect, be respectful. That said, your liberal comment is phenomenally hypocritical. The perfect way to find out who is a liberal fuck is just be quiet and listen. They'll be along shortly to tell you how whatever it is you are doing is wrong and how stupid you are if you aren't doing the same things they are.

That's who I have used for ACC carpet for years. Easy to deal with and much cheaper than ACC direct and better customer service than Rock Auto. Definitely get the mas backing option.

I will also say that it is common for the sides and ends to have extra material to trim. Having been into custom lowered trucks, I prefered it as it gave me extra to cover up floor modifications etc.

All that said it doesn't make up for crappy fitment or molding issues.

Actually, I'll concede that you have a good point - and I actually *have* been "trying to do better". However, you still sounded like a Liberal though - you twisted my words into something I never meant - AND YOU KNOW IT. Don't put words in my mouth. As my late father used to say "I'm not that stupid and neither are you."

Regardless of all that Mrs. Lincoln, I'm very interested in the rubber mat carpet replacement.

Fruit of the poisonous tree. Everything that happens after you step in with your BS is just that, BS.

I thought the pictures in that link looked very similar to ACC's pictures. They're just a reseller then.

Ya know, as one old curmudgeon to another, I do admire your sharp wit! You're OK in my book. :D

Here is what you miss, intentionally I suspect but the end result is the same. We all have our idiosyncrasies. You jumping in to state that carpet in a Jeep is stupid is no different than me jumping in your shit and saying that your entire bellydancing regimen is stupid. I have no desire or need to try and offend you in that manner, so why do it to me? Our idiosycrasies should be accepted and if one isn't willing to afford the same courtesy to others by accepting theirs, that's pretty much a dick move. We all like what we like, just let that be okay.

Ok - now we're communicating. I feel like you took my comment out of context - Someone had posted a link to a rubber mat product, which makes a TON more sense (to me anyway) - hence my comment. Poorly worded perhaps, so if I ruffled your feathers, I do sincerely apologize. {BOW HERE} As for "offense", its damn hard to "offend" me - piss me off, yea. Offend, not very often. And you're still OK in my book. ;) As for Belly Dancing, trust me when I say "I've heard it all before", and that's OK.

As for the linked rubber mat product, I'm wondering if it might be better than bed tred. You don't seem to happy with their products or their attitude, do you - or anybody - know anything whatsoever about this alternate? I really do need to do something about the worn out carpet in my Jeep - the back is OK, the front blows...

I'm not in any especial hurry - I have about $1K worth of parts sitting in my garage that I need to get installed. I was only able to get working on the Jeep again last week (weather's finally cooled down and I'm done with this friggin' house for now!).

And I was aware that would be your fall back position because it it were not, then you would keep it a secret or not do it.

The BedTred versions I've seen installed look like crap. If you don't want carpet, then my go to would be a real spray in bedliner and not the Herculiner or Raptor type products.

Have BedTred in the bed of my truck, wanted to try it instead of the BedRug I previously had. I don't like BedTred there and sure wouldn't like it in a Jeep. Not a fan of it.

I thought I might like BedRug in the front and BedTred in the back. Then I saw it that way in a rig and didn't like it. The best alternative for me is BedRug, but with the addendum that it is covered in all the footwells and rear bed with WeatherTech Floor Liners. Works really well. All I need to do periodically is remove the liners to wash them and vacuum the BedRug.

I have thought about it in the past - but everyone here is all about "DO NOT USE SPRAY IN LINER!!" I was never really clear on why, but I do tend to take seriously opinions of people who know more about Jeeps than I do - which is pretty much everyone here.

I had Rhino liner in the bed of my '87 F250 and loved it. *shrug*

What are you trying to accomplish @Zorba ?

He wants to know why people parrot the same info about spray in bedliner inside jeeps

Yea, exactly. The word on this forum since I joined in '20 has been "don't bedline your Jeep", so I abandoned the idea and have been thinking rubber matting like bed tred or a couple of others that I've run into. But Blaine brought it up again, and I'm rather inclined to believe what he says on the subject of Jeeps, so now I'm wondering "What's the problem with bedliner?". Does it blister and peel off because of heat from the drivetrain? I dunno...

I think people don't want bedliner because they want something more visually appealing (as in what they perceive in a modern car), it doesn't provide sound dampening, nor heat barrier. 99% of them probably have wires running under the carpet too. I'm not justifying it, there are better ways to route added wiring, but just saying.

I don't think it would peel off due to heat. It's pretty tough, especially when thicker and professionally done.
