Air Conditioning Compressor not Engaging

Someone please point me to the best thread for diagnosing air conditioning problems. Symptoms are as follows: yesterday it worked perfectly. This morning I turned it on and it seems like the compressor isn't engaging. It's blowing but there is no cold air. The switches seem to be working properly. Fuses? Relays? 2006 4.0 auto.

First thing I would check is the fuses. Let us know if you find any that are blown.

We need a good AC diagnostic / trouble shooting thread. I'm not an AC expert, but if someone is, I would much appreciate a good "How-To" thread for that.

If the compressor is not engaging but everything else is working, I would check the relay.

Two other things come to mind as well:

1) Your AC clutch could have gone bad (in which case, it's easier to just get a new compressor).
2) If your low on freon, the AC will not engage. Have you noticed it blowing warmer air than usual, up until it stopped working? That would be an indicator your freon is low and you have a leak.

Could be a relay, could be the fuse, but my bet is the refrigerant is just low in the system.
