Did some routine servicing today, found air cleaner box (inlet side under the filter) half full of acorn hulls. CHIPMUNKS, ARG!!! It is a standard air box for a 1998 TJ 2.5L. Do you think there would be any harm in making a screen of 1/4" screen/hardware cloth to put over the inlet horn of the filter?

Have been trapping and sending chipmunks to their happy hunting grounds this summer. Chewed trailer wiring in both of my trailers has needed repair, now this.

It wouldn’t hurt to do that.

Or some of that 1/4 inch metal wire mesh. You could cut it bigger, form it accordingly and use a hose clamp to hold it on.

Never mind that, the cloth would probably be better. It wouldn’t cut you if you rubbed against it. 😂

Ive done it on our vehicles myself with 1/4 screen from the hardware store.. Here its mice and pack rats. They've even invaded the belt system and air box on my ATV thru the snorkles..little bastages.

This should keep them out.

anti chipmunk screen.webp
