Good morning everyone. Im new to the forum and reaching out to solve my problem. I have a 2000 tj with a 2.5. Im running 33" tires and 4:88 gears. My lift is a bds short arm (adjustable w\ joints). Im running sky jacker 4" springs with 1" pucks and im having issues with it being all over the road. I have the jeep aligned and adjusted to where its supposed to b however im dealing with what i would describe as deflection steering. Im wondering what to do because i used to run 2" springs and 2.5" pucks and never had a problem. Any suggestions would b greatly appreciated. Thank yall.

Owned it since new and its had these control arms and track bars for years with the 2" springs and 2.5" pucks for years and it drove awesome. I recently put the 4" springs and 1" pu

Take a picture of the front end. Somebody might be able to see something that'll help you.

Deflection and bump steer are usually caused by a dropped pitman arm and no dropped track bar mount , I’d start there , post pics .

Will do in a bit. Raining where i am. I have all new components up front and have the geometry all in line. If im on a smooth road it drives straight as an arrow but when i hit a high or low spot in the road it wants to move in the lane.

Yep , get that dropped pitman arm off , and be free.

We hereby banish all dropped pitman arms , dropped pitman arms , we darn thee.

Notice the diverging track bar and drag link angle .

Chris , be sure to put "DPA " on his avatar until this is fixed , and cut his points credit to 50 percent.

Will try iy but wont that mis align the parellel of my track bar verses my steering link? My problem doesnt seem to b in the front. Wherever i point it, it goes. It seems to b more in the rear

It looks the link is way low now , i know they say flatter (more horizontal ) is better , but dropped pitman arms cause bad bumpsteer...also you want to roll it and slam the brakes and see what the rear control arms do...if they are sloppy, you need bushings likely...rear steer can happen. If you have both , she's a handful to drive.

So verything is heim joints on the arms except

Well all of my busshings on one end of coontrol arms r fine and the other side of course r heim joints that r greased regularly. Im not getting bumpp steer at all. Everything up front feels fine. Im getting what i would describe as opposite of a skate board effect. When i compress one side of the suspension, it kicks my axles at an angle and makes the jeep wanna go to the opposite side. For example, if i hit a high spot on the drivers side, it kicks the axles and makes me go toward the passenger side. Once i correct it, it dri es straight as an arrow until i compress one side or the other again then it goes the opposite way of whichever side coompresses again

I can hit any pothole and not feel it in the wheel. Its only on spring compression that it starts to wander

That sure sounds like rear steer to me.... You need to find out what's allowing it to move the axles forward enough to turn the vehicle.

A TJ is so blame short it doesn't take much.

Well like i was saying, its sits so high that my control arm angle is severe. Iss it possible that i have my pinion angle so releaved that its allowing it to move badly? Maybe i should adjust it more so that my springs r not bending and possibly creating that rear movement?
