I have replaced almost every component on my Jeep primarily for the bliss achieved via mechanical recreation and to totally refresh my rig for desert reliability. While my original alternator was functioning perfectly, I bolted a shiny new Amazon solution to my shiny new to me engine. I have a good sound system in the rig with two amplifiers. The alternator whine coming through the speakers told me the new alternator was not supplying clean power. Reinstalled the original, problem solved. Lesson learned, there is something to the old adage, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I replaced the starter and power steering pump as well, I wonder how long it will take for me to regret that? Chances are, if I had a stock sound sytem, I'd never have notice the alternator had junk internals. BTW, the original was made by Denso.
